FountainBrook provides several options for seniors, whether someone wants independent living, needs a little help with daily activities, or has memory loss, Alzheimer's, or dementia and needs more support. Folks can pick from spacious apartments or large private suites, some even with full baths, and there are a few semi-private options in the memory care neighborhood called Finch Landing, where people can enjoy bird aviaries, open common areas, a courtyard, reminiscing stations, and special meals or snacks designed for memory support. The staff at FountainBrook are present around the clock, there's a licensed nurse on-site, and they take care of medication, health monitoring, regular physician visits, and help with grooming, bathing, dressing, or managing incontinence. Each resident gets a personalized care plan and the team helps with maintenance, housekeeping, transportation, and escorts to meals and activities, which let folks move at their own pace without worry. Meals are served three times a day, family-style or restaurant-style, with menus that include vegetarian and Kosher options, and folks can eat when they want, with all-day refreshments always ready. People get to enjoy daily activities led by a director, from music programs and gardening clubs to pet therapy, Wii tournaments, craft rooms, and intergenerational events, and there are devotional services offsite for those who want them. Safety and comfort get attention, with security cameras, help call pendants, intercoms, and a monitored fire safety system. Residents use WiFi and computers, take part in wellness and exercise programs, and can spend time outdoors on patios, porches, or by raised flower and vegetable beds. There's an on-site beauty and barber shop, a fitness center, social living areas, a private dining room for special occasions, and friendly pets are welcome. The community tries to give everyone purpose and connection, whether through the Life Story program, resident councils, or by just helping each other out, and senior companions at home are available for those who want to stay in their own place with support. FountainBrook offers a caring and active setting that works to respect privacy, dignity, and each person's choices.
Beautiful facility, but understaffed management
I had my mother here while she required rehab; the facility is beautiful, generally clean and new, with an attached restaurant, good café-style dining (specials + à la carte, breakfast all day), lots of activities, 24/7 LPNs and many genuinely caring, long-tenured staff. Rooms are accessible and well appointed, labs/meds and prompt doctor assessments were handled quickly. That said, the memory-care unit was badly understaffed and often unresponsive or rude, meals there were late/cold at times, and management (including a dishonest head nurse) seemed more driven by occupancy than quality of care. Understaffing led to inadequate help with showers/dressing and some safety concerns, so overall it's a mixed experience: great facility and many caring people, but serious staffing/management problems that give me pause.
