University Village Retirement Community serves Tulsa seniors with a focus on comfort, safety, and supporting independence, and you'll find it's been helping folks for over 50 years, so a lot of locals know about it, and it sits on a campus with a few choices for living, like independent cottages and apartments, assisted living, skilled nursing, and even short-term rehab. The apartments include studios, one-bedrooms, or two-bedroom units, with safety features like bathroom assist bars and emergency pull cords, and they come with tile and carpet, window treatments, walk-in closets, a full-size fridge, and a microwave, and the cottages offer more space with full kitchens, washers and dryers, and even cable TV and utilities included, and both options come pet-friendly, so residents don't have to leave furry friends behind. The staff is known for being kind and helpful, and residents get three chef-prepared meals every day, plus they can count on weekly housekeeping, 24-hour security, and transportation to appointments or events, so nobody has to worry about chores or driving if they don't want to. The place offers a wide mix of programs and activities like games, fitness classes, volunteer opportunities, and social gatherings, and what stands out is something they call "Wellness Lifestyle" programs that help folks stay independent and healthy for as long as possible, along with support in daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and remembering medications if needed. Memory care services are also available for people with dementia or Alzheimer's, and the buildings and grounds aim to look and feel home-like so residents don't feel like they're in a hospital, and you'll see local owners, who are Christian business leaders, run things with an emphasis on community service and keeping the place cozy and well-kept. The environment encourages friendships, staying active, eating well, and joining in on community life, whether it's volunteering with a local group, joining a book club, or just sitting down to dinner with neighbors, and there's always professional staff on hand if someone needs help or their health changes, because the care at University Village adapts as needs do, and you get the feeling residents are neighbors more than clients or patients, all while living in a place meant to keep things easy, safe, and neighborly.

Welcoming staff, activities, some concerns
I toured and moved my mom here and overall we're pleased - the staff are consistently friendly, caring and helpful, the campus and dining are clean, there are lots of activities, cottage and apartment options, and on-site rehab/nursing gives a useful continuum of care. The community is older/dated with some small rooms, long walks to dining, and there are occasional serious care/medication concerns reported, so it's not ideal for very high-need residents. I would recommend it for active, independent seniors looking for good value, welcoming staff, and plenty of social programming.
