    Caring staff but management issues

I appreciated the warm, friendly staff, lively activities and beautiful, well-run environment - many caregivers became friends and provided compassionate end-of-life care. I was frustrated by management and billing issues, frequent leadership turnover, and extra fees that felt opaque. The place can be understaffed: meals often arrive cold or small, housekeeping and medication practices were inconsistent at times. Overall I'm grateful for the caring staff and location, but I'd tour carefully, clarify costs and staffing, and compare other communities first.

For those eligible, Brookdale Mt. Hood helps veterans with long-term care through VA benefits, including Aid and Attendance. This community has received awards for quality care and friendliness, and keeps collaboration as part of its flexible care plans. Internet access, handicap accessibility, and community features like Wi-Fi are included. Brookdale Mt. Hood focuses on helping people age well and live well, matching services to each person's needs in a setting made for comfort and safety.
