I live/toured a small (~40) two-story community with clean, spacious, apartment-style rooms, nice common areas and a cozy, home-like atmosphere. The staff are generally outstanding-caring, responsive, and attentive (activity director and hospice support were especially good)-and residents stay busy with lots of programs and outings. Downsides: food is inconsistent/limited, the place can be understaffed or have slow responses, management can be hit-or-miss, and it was retirement/independent living only when I looked (no assisted living). Overall I'm comfortable and grateful for the care, but I'd recommend checking staffing, dining quality, pricing, and level-of-care availability first.
