    Warm staff, excellent care overall

I live here and overall I'm very satisfied. The staff are warm, caring and professional; nursing and therapy are excellent, the apartments are spacious/clean with meals and light housekeeping, and the community feels safe and homey. There have been occasional lapses - inconsistent caregivers, lost items, some administrative rudeness and food issues - but the attentive staff and strong rehab/nursing support make it worth recommending.

    About Baycrest Village

Baycrest Village is a senior living community in North Bend, Oregon, with a long history on the South Coast and many options for living and care. The community sits on beautiful grounds overlooking bay views of North Bend, Coos Bay, and the surrounding areas, so you get a nice view and lots of space to walk or sit outside. There's a range of apartments and townhomes for people aged 55 and older, and you can have a pet. Inside, the layout includes spacious one and two-bedroom units, full tubs, and wheelchair accessible showers. Residents can use a laundry room that doesn't cost extra, and there are gathering rooms, community kitchens, and a large workout room for exercise and social time. There's also a recreational room, library with computer room, indoor and outdoor areas to visit, and a chapel for religious services and Bible study, so people have chances to gather together and keep busy.

For dining, The Friends Cafe And Deli serves up a variety of snacks and food at a discount, and there are nutritious meals prepared for residents, which saves time and helps keep meals balanced. Transportation options include complimentary rides plus transport at extra cost, and parking is available for those with cars. The place is close to bus lines, making it easy to get around. Staff members are present 24 hours a day for emergencies and assistance, and on-site maintenance and security help with safety and peace of mind.

Baycrest Village supports many types of care with its "family of services" so people can live as independently as possible, even as their needs change. The continuum of care covers independent retirement living, assisted care, enhanced care, memory care for those with Alzheimer's and dementia, skilled nursing, long-term care, hospice, and respite care for short-term stays. Staff can help with daily activities and health needs, including non-ambulatory care for those who need help moving from bed to chair, diabetic care with insulin help, high acuity care, and incontinence care, where staff remind residents to use the restroom. They have on-site homecare, visiting nurses, dentists, podiatrists, speech, physical, and occupational therapists, and a doctor and nurses on call. There's hospice and general counseling, too. Baycrest Village can accept residents with major behavior issues in its secured memory care area, and uses technology like bracelets with alarms to prevent wandering.

Common rooms, activity spaces, and social programs let people connect and keep active, with both onsite and offsite activities for healthy living. Devotional and religious support are available. Beautician and barber services happen on site as well, so hair care is handled without leaving. Whether someone's managing daily life mostly on their own or needs more help, the staff aim to foster independence while being there when needed. Meals, safety, and support are at the center of the community, and the setting, people, and programs make it easier to stay active and connected as life goes on.
