Sherwood Pines Residential Care is a locally owned and operated memory care community located in the Fern Ridge area, distinguished by its commitment to providing quality care in a warm, family-oriented atmosphere. As the only memory care facility locally managed in the region, Sherwood Pines offers a broad spectrum of services tailored to support individuals with various forms of memory loss. The care home is licensed for sixteen residents, ensuring that each person receives personalized attention as part of a customized care plan. This small size allows for meaningful relationships between caregivers and residents, fostering an environment where each individual’s needs, preferences, and health are carefully addressed.
The leadership at Sherwood Pines includes David, Kerensa, and Marla, who collectively bring forty years of nursing experience as Registered Nurses. Their expertise helps ensure that every resident benefits from knowledgeable health oversight and compassionate care. Amanda Roby, the administrator since 2023, began her journey at Sherwood Pines as a night shift caregiver in 2019. Her long-standing dedication to caregiving and her commitment to resident well-being drive her to create a positive, dignified, and nurturing environment for everyone at the facility.
Residents of Sherwood Pines experience a welcoming home-like setting where a highly trained and stable team of Care Partners, many of whom have been with the community for over five years, serve as ‘universal workers’. Care Partners handle cleaning, cooking, medication administration, and all facets of daily living, reflecting the care home's philosophy of going beyond state-mandated training standards to deliver consistently excellent care. Each resident is supported through all stages of memory loss, from early onset through end-of-life, ensuring continuity with familiar and devoted caregivers.
Sherwood Pines provides full-time residential care as well as respite and day care options, recognizing that families and residents may have changing needs over time. Meals are home-cooked, well-balanced, and designed to be both nutritious and appealing, with attention to each resident’s dietary requirements. The environment is kept clean and comfortable, and a variety of recreational and exercise activities are regularly organized to promote well-being and engagement.
The care home works collaboratively with several outside providers to deliver comprehensive care. These partnerships include collaborations with Home Health, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and Hospice services, making it possible for residents to remain at Sherwood Pines throughout all stages of their journey. Additional services offered for residents include access to a hairstylist, outings, and transportation to appointments using the facility’s Turtle Top Van. While some of these services may incur a provider charge, they enhance residents’ experiences and support their continued independence and dignity.
The enduring stability and commitment of the Sherwood Pines team, combined with the expertise of its leaders and the devotion to creating a compassionate environment, make it a unique setting for individuals living with memory loss. The sense of family and familiarity permeates daily life, supporting not just physical health, but also emotional comfort and a strong sense of community for both residents and their loved ones.
