    Caring community with some issues

I toured and moved my loved one here and have mostly been pleased. The staff are caring, attentive and proactive, the community is clean, homey, and offers strong activities, dining choices, in-house therapy and a very compassionate memory unit. It's conveniently located near hospitals and shopping. My concerns: inconsistent staffing (slow or avoided bathroom help at times), communication/billing and mail issues, occasional food/laundry problems, limited private rooms and few skilled-nursing/insulin options, and costs can be high. Overall I feel safe and supported and would recommend it with some reservations.

    About Morningside House of Exton

Morningside House of Exton sits in a three-story building with a welcoming, home-like feeling and offers both assisted living and memory care, as well as options for short-term stays and even some hospice services, and one thing folks notice is that they let residents bring their pets along in assisted living and allow pet visits in the memory care wing, which many people like because it keeps things feeling more like home. The architecture looks like an old Victorian mansion, and inside there's a big lobby with a grand staircase, cozy sitting areas with fireplaces and TVs, comfortable assisted living bedrooms with big windows, and a bistro with a beverage bar where folks can sit and chat. There's a pretty sunroom, a game room, a library, and places for families to meet. Many rooms have large windows looking out at well-kept gardens, and outside you'll find walking paths, a gazebo, picnic tables under mature trees, and a secure patio for memory care residents who need a safe outdoor space.

The staff, including a 24-hour clinical team and a visiting concierge physician, focus on personal care for each individual, offering help with bathing, dressing, medication, hygiene, and managing health needs, and they keep everything safe and comfortable. Memory care staff build plans around each resident's needs, with special activities, dementia-friendly dining, and support for those living with Alzheimer's and other memory loss conditions, so folks can keep their dignity and routines as much as possible. The Reminiscence Neighborhood, specially set up for those with memory challenges, has secure areas, cozy common rooms, and organized activities to spark memories and offer comfort, like "You Be the Judge" socials, music, games, therapy, and holiday celebrations.

Meals are cooked on site, served three times a day in an elegant dining room with windows and nice natural light, and the menus are pretty varied-sometimes they even serve baby back ribs or other treats. For those who want to read or relax, the library has lots of books and calm corners, and there's always something going on, whether it's a workout class, live music, happy hour, movie night, or trips to local places, and they invite guests to take organized tours so people can really see what daily life is like there. Residents get housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and scheduled transportation taken care of, so they can enjoy the social activities, the outdoor spaces, and the friendly atmosphere without worrying about chores. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building, and the place is fully accessible for people with mobility needs.

You'll see that Morningside House of Exton feels like a safe, active, and comfortable spot for seniors who want different care options, including assisted living, secure memory care, independent living, and short-term stays, and there's a strong sense of community, with the staff always around to help while promoting as much independence as possible. The building and grounds are both pleasant and easy to get around, with a welcoming front entry, covered porch, and plenty of spots for folks to sit and visit either inside or out in the garden.

    About Sunrise Senior Living

Beginning with a single community in 1981, there are now more than 280 Sunrise Senior Living communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Each of our communities maintains the mission laid out by Sunrise founders Paul and Terry Klaassen more than 40 years ago: to champion quality of life for all seniors. The Klaassens’ vision to redefine senior care resulted in a resident-centered approach to care that focuses on the individuality of each resident and has set the standard in the assisted living industry. We are defined by our people. Our team of serving hearts are guided by our mission, Principles of Service and Values – all of which help encourage independence, preserve dignity and enable freedom of choice for each resident.
