    Caring staff and spotless facility

I placed my loved one at Berkshire Commons and am very happy - the staff are genuinely caring and attentive, the facility is beautiful, spotless and homelike, rooms are spacious, and meals and activities keep residents engaged. Communication and safety were strong during COVID; a few families mentioned occasional staffing or laundry hiccups and it may not be ideal for high-acuity rehab, but overall I trust them and highly recommend.

Berkshire Commons sits in Exeter Township, Pennsylvania Dutch Country, with nice sunsets over Neversink Mountain and green spaces on the old Reading Country Club grounds, providing residents with fresh views and room to walk, and you'll find they take care of small details like personal housekeeping, clean linens, and complimentary chauffeured rides for errands and appointments, which helps things run smoothly every day. The community has several living options, with choices like private studios, large one-bedroom suites, and two-room apartments, and many come with kitchenettes for folks who want to manage their own snacks, plus, all living spaces stay maintenance-free, so no worries about fixing things yourself. Genesis Therapists and Physician Services are onsite and ready to help with therapy and medical needs, offering a free evaluation when someone moves in to get the proper care started, and a 24-hour call system means there's always someone nearby in case of an emergency, which is a big help for peace of mind.

For those who need it, Berkshire Commons has assisted living services with help for daily tasks like bathing, dressing, taking medicine, and transferring, as well as non-ambulatory care for people who have more trouble getting around, and they offer memory care for residents with Alzheimer's or dementia, with personalized support and safe spaces, including things like sensory therapy, reminiscence therapy, and snoezelen activities, and you'll see staff trained in memory care and counseling, always close by for group or individual support. Dining here means chef-prepared meals, and you'll see the "Dine your way" program lets people pick when and how they eat, including room service, with menus that cover breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and always options for special diets like gluten-free, vegan, or low-sodium, and families can join for guest meals in private dining rooms if they want.

Around the building and outdoors, you'll find walking paths, an enclosed courtyard, and a patio garden, plus a fitness room, TV lounge, library, arts area, and barber and salon services for haircuts and grooming, while planned activities like tournaments, painting classes, movie nights, and wellness seminars keep residents busy and connected, with scheduled trips to local shops and dining spots, and religious services for different faiths, chaplains visit regularly. The community offers strong support for those who want to keep their independence but need a little help, provides skilled nursing care for those who need more, and makes it easy to move between different care levels without leaving Berkshire Commons. Residents have high-speed internet, access to counseling, hospice care, daily events, laundry and dry-cleaning, and staff help with things like shopping or moving in. There's also an emergency alert system, resident parking, guest amenities, and respite care for short stays, and the building focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion in service.
