    Safe caring clean homelike community

I feel my loved one is safe, happy, and at home here - staff are welcoming, caring, and helpful, the facility is clean and bright, meals are good, and there are plenty of activities, therapy and social opportunities. Nursing and therapy coordinate care well and are attentive; communication is generally good, though I've noticed occasional medication delays and rare concerns about missing items. Despite those few issues, I would recommend this friendly, home-like community.

    About Mifflin Court

Mifflin Court sits in Shillington, PA, and offers different kinds of care for seniors, so whether someone wants to live on their own, needs help day-to-day, or needs support for memory problems, the staff can give it. The community has independent living for folks who are active and want hassle-free living with maintenance taken care of, so there's less to worry about, but also assisted living for people who need a hand with things like bathing, getting dressed, moving around, or making sure they take their medicine, and they've got a memory care unit for people with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, where the staff is trained to make sure residents are safe and comfortable in a setting that helps with confusion or wandering. People needing nursing care can get that too, including things like rehabilitation after injuries or joint replacement, wound care, and help for medical challenges like mobility issues or macular degeneration, and the place provides both short-term and long-term stays, so families can get respite too if they need a break. Residents can see registered nurses, on-site nurse practitioners, and attending physicians, and they can get therapies like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as things like IV and TPN, dental, podiatry, psychiatric, and vision care, plus they help with case management, individual treatment plans, discharge planning, and managing diet and medicines, and they partner with Powerback Rehabilitation to You.

The building has private and semi-private apartments, with choices such as a studio, double studio, a large one-bedroom with dining and kitchenette, or a suite with its own bath and living space, and each room has climate control, which can really help keep someone comfortable. There's a 24-hour call system and an alarm system for anyone with memory troubles, and the nursing staff is around at least 12 to 16 hours a day, though someone's always on call. The place looks like a regular neighborhood, with gardens and courtyards for enjoying fresh air, and the setting is suburban with scenic views, so it feels familiar. They serve three meals a day with menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner-and someone can eat in their room if needed or in a restaurant-style dining room-and there's a beauty salon and barber, places to watch TV, lounge areas with fireplaces, and rooms for activities. Seniors can join in things like "Painting with a Twist" classes, therapeutic drumming, wellness seminar series, and all sorts of outings, plus pet therapy and recreational events to help people stay active and lessen loneliness, and yes, pets are allowed and there's Wi-Fi, so folks can keep in touch or browse the web.

Mifflin Court has been recognized for being friendly and helpful, with staff who get to know and respond to residents' needs, and it's received positive reviews for supporting people through transitions, rehabilitation, and ongoing medical care. The admissions and marketing department is led by Melissa Eberhart, and information about life at Mifflin Court-plus virtual tours, photos, and scheduling a visit-is shared online via their website and social media. There's a front desk to answer questions, the place is accessible and has options for aides like interpreters, and there's a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in how the team looks after everyone. The community is connected with the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, so it makes use of local resources, and Mifflin Court is part of Genesis senior living, so it draws from a tradition of elder care. The goal is always to help residents live fully, stay engaged, and feel safe, whether they're there for a short time to recover or want to call it home.
