    About Franklin Court Assisted Living

Franklin Court Assisted Living sits close to downtown Bristol, where folks can walk to churches, a beauty salon, a florist, a sandwich shop, a convenience store, and a pharmacy, making it easy for residents to get what they need, and it's only for those 62 or older who meet some income and eligibility rules, since it's built for low income seniors and operates under the Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity guidelines. Some apartments are priced with fixed rent well below usual rates in the area, but others base rent on 30% of adjusted monthly income, and they take private pay, Social Security, veteran's benefits, and private insurance, so people have options when paying for care. The community runs with support from low income housing tax credits (LIHTC), encourages potential residents to come by in person, and has a pretty thorough application that needs things like an ID, Social Security card, proof of income, bank statements, credit and personal references, and requires a small fee-typically between $25 and $50 by money order-and there's also a one-time $900 community fee. Only birds are allowed as pets.

Staff members stay awake around the clock, with about a third of folks needing just some light help and most needing medium care. Staff can help with moving from bed to wheelchair, medication management, bathing, dressing, and grooming, and can step in during emergencies, but those with incontinence need to manage their own care. The team will also help monitor blood sugar for residents with diabetes and offers standby assistance for transferring non-ambulatory residents. There's hospice and offsite devotional services available, plus Catholic Mass three times weekly, while essential services like weekly housekeeping, meal services three times daily, laundry, and help with getting to doctor's appointments are part of what's provided.

Apartments, set up as studios or one-bedrooms, are comfortable with large windows for natural light, wall-to-wall carpet, cathedral ceilings, ceiling fans, private bathrooms with walk-in showers, and kitchenettes with a fridge-freezer, microwave, cooktop, and sink. There are options for courtyard views, and each apartment has cable TV, phone, and internet wiring, individual heat controls, and a personal emergency call system. Fire and smoke safety features are throughout.

Inside, residents can use several indoor and outdoor spaces including a sunroom with wicker furniture, a library and attached quiet reading room, a country store, the cozy Mt. Hope Cafe and Game Room for cards or board games, arts and crafts areas, a media room with surround sound and recliners, laundry rooms, and a billiard room. There's also a wellness center, computer station, and private mailboxes. Common areas like the East Bay Community Room hold big gatherings and exercise classes, and many social activities happen, such as visiting musicians and speakers, book club, bingo, puzzles, shopping, games, manicures, and more, along with devotional services. Outdoor areas include a private, enclosed courtyard with seating, walking paths, and a patio ready for cookouts and barbecues, plus spots set aside for smokers and a garden area. Folks can decorate suites with personal furniture and have the freedom to set up their rooms how they like.

Franklin Court works to help residents stay active, healthy, and connected, while keeping housing affordable for older adults, offering a safe and friendly place where seniors can live independently with help when needed, joining in meals, activities, games, and time together all under one roof.
