    Warm community, great memory care

I placed my mom at Oaks at Beaufort and overall I'm pleased - the memory care is outstanding, the staff truly care, and the facility feels warm, social, and community-oriented with lots of activities and great views. Meals are generally good, dining areas attractive, and the place is clean and nicely decorated; pricing is reasonable for the level of care. Administration and nurses have been exceptional at times and very responsive, though we've also experienced turnover, occasional slow management follow-up, and sporadic maintenance or cleanliness lapses. Rooms tend to be on the small side and bus outings/transport have been unreliable recently. Despite some inconsistencies, my mom is happier, more independent, and engaged - I would recommend Oaks with the caveat to monitor staffing and management responsiveness.

    About Oaks at Beaufort

Oaks at Beaufort is a senior living community for people aged 55 and older, settled along the banks of Battery Creek under fifteen large live oak trees, and it's got views of classic southern nature with gardens full of vegetables and fruit, so residents can spend time outside on patios or stroll through landscaped grounds. This place has been running for more than twenty years, and you'll find the staff know residents well and provide care that fits each person. They offer assisted living, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or other memory loss, respite care for short stays, and even hospice services, so folks can get help as needs change over time. Nurses are around 12 to 16 hours each day, and there's always a 24-hour call system in case someone needs help at night or during emergencies, plus on-call nursing and nearby doctors like Dr. Mary St. John. There are various health services on-site, with skilled nursing, medication help, therapies like physical, occupational, or speech therapy, mental health care, diabetic care, and hospice. The building's single story, making it easy to get around, with wide hallways and a secured memory care area, so it's comfortable and safe as people move about the common areas or their own apartments.

Apartments come in studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and companion suite options, with semi-private, single, and private layouts, many with kitchenettes, cable, and internet access. There are laundry, housekeeping, maintenance, and dry-cleaning services, so daily chores are taken care of, and residents can have meals in the dining room with chef-inspired meals that also serve special diets, or they can get room service and enjoy all-day dining whenever works best for them. Residents can bring their pets, whether it's a dog, cat, or bird, and the community is pet-friendly, with pet therapy programs to help make everyone feel more at home and less lonely. There's transportation for doctor visits and group outings, with parking for residents and guests. On-site beauty and barber services, including haircuts, are available, and you'll find devotional and spiritual programs, music activities, on- and off-site outings, bingo, educational programs, story time, arts and crafts, and game nights, so there's almost always something to do. There's a gym, fitness programs, games room, library, and plenty of sitting rooms if people want quiet or company, and bright living spaces mean folks can relax alone or gather with friends if they wish.

People can get help with bathing, dressing, medication, mobility support, and other daily activities, and there are different care plans to match what each person wants and needs since Oaks at Beaufort works with a person-directed approach, with care partners who know the residents well. All rooms and common spaces are non-smoking indoors and have wheelchair-accessible showers, so they're safe, and the memory care area is fully secured but has open space so residents maintain freedom while staying protected. Insurance, credit cards, and checks are accepted for payment, and they help with VA Benefits as well. Programs and services here have state licenses, and residents give Oaks at Beaufort a community score of 8.6 out of 10. The place is part of the Five Star Senior Living portfolio, so it's recognized among verified senior living communities, and you'll find a team of caring staff on site, ready to support residents no matter how much help they need.
