Seven Sisters Living Center is a senior care community in Yankton, South Dakota, with a 2-star nursing home rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and an average rating of 8 out of 10, and the facility sits within a Continuing Care Retirement Community, which lets residents move between care levels as their needs change while staying in the same place. The center has 52 beds for long-term nursing home care and offers a mix of services, including assisted living, memory care, independent living, skilled nursing, home care, and respite care for temporary stays, so people facing serious medical needs can get skilled care if they've had an illness, surgery, or need extra support. Residents can choose from studio layouts or opt for private, double, or toe-to-toe rooms, and after August 2019, 20 new private rooms got added, each with ceiling lifts for safety, and some rooms come with large windows overlooking a garden and the Seven Sisters Mountain range. The whole facility sits on one level for easy access, with bright halls and a caring staff that stays on duty 24 hours a day to help with bathing, dressing, medication, and getting residents safely moved with lift systems if they have mobility challenges. People can get help with daily activities, meal prep, and personal care, plus there's skilled nursing, therapies like physical, speech, or occupational therapy, and restorative care set up in dedicated group spaces. Those who need memory support due to dementia or Alzheimer's can get specialized help, and the staff works alongside community health workers and handles behavioral health needs when required. Dining is available all day with restaurant-style options, and the kitchen staff can prepare menus for special diets, including those for diabetes or food allergies, while the dining room and kitchen also hold family gatherings. Residents who like activities have plenty to do, from movie nights to arts and crafts in the arts room, and there's both staff-run and resident-run groups for hobbies or social events, with walking paths, a garden for relaxation, and a chapel for spiritual time. The building features safety systems like emergency alerts to keep everyone secure, and rooms come furnished, some with telephones, with support for both shared and private living. Laundry and housekeeping are included, and there's a barber/salon, plus move-in coordination, so families face less stress getting settled. Seven Sisters Living Center takes Medicare and Medicaid, making it available to people with various financial situations, and overall, the place tries to be homelike and supportive, with a focus on adapting care plans to fit the unique needs of each resident while preserving dignity and comfort as people age.
