    Caring staff, great food, issues

I toured this well-kept, home-like community and was impressed by the great food, wide variety of activities, large common areas, screened porch and raised flower beds, secure access, and very caring, knowledgeable staff (director of nursing and admin responsive). Residents clearly love it and memory care support is excellent. My main issues were a cold front desk/no greeting, a 10-minute wait with no courtesy and no call or apology for a missed appointment, and one unprofessional response. Ultimately it wasn't the right fit for my dad (too big for my mom), but I still rate it four stars and would recommend it to other families.

    About Schilling Gardens

Schilling Gardens sits in a quiet spot, built to help seniors feel comfortable, safe, and cared for, with staff always on hand if someone needs a hand with medication, meals, or daily routines, and folks can choose from independent living, assisted living, memory care, or rehabilitation care, depending on what they might need right now or down the road. The staff stay friendly and well-trained, and they use unique programs and special ways like the Best Friends™ Approach in their memory care areas, which means they pay real attention to everyone's needs, especially for those living with memory loss or Alzheimer's, always providing plans and activities made for each person, in secure spaces where families don't have to worry about safety. The community puts a lot of effort into making life feel homey, from suites with warm colors, wooden beds, and dressers, to screened-in and open porches with comfortable seating where folks can sit outside among nice landscaping or walk along secure fenced paths, especially in the adult day care and memory care sections, and there's a spa-like bathroom with a walk-in tub and safety bars for easy, safe bathing. People don't get bored here, since there's a full calendar of social, educational, and fun activities, and rooms for gathering like the elegant dining room with natural light and set tables, common areas with couches and TVs, and a welcoming reception area with a fireplace in memory care, so everyone has a space to relax, watch some TV, or join in with others. Schilling Gardens also welcomes pets, keeps things easy for those with mobility needs through handicap-accessible features, offers parking and transport options, and stays close to parks, cafés, and important places like pharmacies and medical centers, making outings and errands simpler for both seniors and visiting families. Engaging activities and special programs help folks connect and make friends, and respite care is always there for families who need a break or temporary support. The staff help with everything-from managing medicine to organizing therapy and rehab for anyone dealing with recovery from an illness or ongoing medical needs, and they keep supervision 24 hours a day, which eases worries about being left alone in case someone needs help. Schilling Gardens is part of the Americare Senior Living group, stands out in community reviews, and holds a Seniorly Verified status, so people know it's checked and recognized, all while staying privately owned and locally run, with a focus on making sure residents have the support, social care, and comfort they need to enjoy their days and keep their independence as much as they can.
