    Warm staff but costly caution

I placed my loved one here and found a warm, home-like place with caring, friendly staff, many activities (bingo, music, walks, outings), roomy well-appointed rooms, an excellent secured Alzheimer's unit, on-site dietician and transportation. That said, I encountered serious negatives: very high costs (~$5k), insensitive/poor billing practices during bereavement, reports of pests and unclean carpets, occasional disrespectful staff behavior and lapses in personal care/hospice feeding. Overall I liked the staff and community but would recommend with caution - verify billing, cleanliness, and ADL support before committing.

    About Heritage Pointe Senior Living

Heritage Pointe Senior Living sits at 1030 South Maple Avenue in Cookeville, TN, where you'll find a pet-friendly environment and friendly staff who take care to make everyone feel welcome. The place has room for 66 residents, offering private apartments that come with cable TV, kitchenettes, handicapped-accessible bathrooms, double closets, refrigerators, microwaves, and even chest of drawers, so you can settle in with your things and make it home. Folks can stay long-term, or they can come for short-term or respite stays. The staff provides personal care twenty-four hours a day, including help with bathing, dressing, meals, and medications, and they look out for residents who may need help with things like incontinence, diabetes, or getting around. Nursing staff and medical care are on hand, with a pharmacy on-site, medication reminders, and regular health checks, and they even have a medical improvement assessment, so a person can see how they're doing over time.

Heritage Pointe runs assisted living, independent living, and a memory care center called The Cottage for people with Alzheimer's and dementia. Staff are trained in memory care, CPR, and safety procedures, and you've got a twenty-four-hour emergency nurse call system plus scheduled safety checks. The place is a gated community with its own parking lot, and it does take long-term care insurance and is approved for Veterans Affairs Aid & Assistance. Once you're settled, you can join activity programs like devotional gatherings, on-site arts and crafts, music activities, picnics, drawing sessions, and offsite field trips, so people can keep busy in all sorts of ways. There are common areas indoors like the dining room, sunporch, den, and a dome room, and there's an aquatic area with a hot tub spa for relaxing. Meals are cooked by chefs with meal planners who use good ingredients and focus on nutrition and taste, and you can grab snacks like ice cream, too.

You'll find cable TV in the common areas and a coffee shop for sitting and talking, plus facilities for fitness, wellness, and salon services. Residents get fresh linens and laundry service, general transportation and shopping trips, and housekeeping is handled so folks can relax. Heritage Pointe also offers on-site religious services and education programs, plus card games and regular musical events. If you need more information or resources, the facility hosts a resource center and organizes seminars and an annual convention, and there's a directory for affiliated organizations and a facility finder to help families make choices. Certified nursing assistant (CNA) training is provided here, too, which means staff stay up to date on care. Heritage Pointe Senior Living is licensed and inspected under license number 278, and staff include a dedicated executive director or owner who oversees everything to keep things running smoothly. Tours can be scheduled if you want to look around and see the community for yourself.
