    Great frontline care, poor administration

I'm very happy with the hands-on nursing care - my mom is doing well, the CNAs and nurses go beyond their job descriptions, activities and cookouts are great, and the building is clean and family-friendly. That said, the office/administration is horrible: understaffed, billing problems and poor handling of paperwork (especially since the company change after bankruptcy), which has caused stress. In short: excellent frontline care and quality of life, but frustrating and unreliable administration.

About The Highlands Of Dyersburg Health & Rehab

The Highlands Of Dyersburg Health & Rehab stands as a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, offering around-the-clock supervision and help with medical needs, where staff help with bathing, dressing, and transfers, and provide medication management and support for non-ambulatory residents, and they've set up 12-16 hour nursing care based on what's needed, so there's always some form of care on hand, and a 24-hour call system means residents aren't alone if they need urgent help. People who come here find rooms with private bathrooms, cable TV, kitchenettes, phones, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, internet, and the rooms are furnished when folks move in, while housekeeping, laundry, and move-in help are part of what residents get, so they're not left to clean and organize everything by themselves.

The place has 180 certified beds, and as of June 2025, 51 beds are available, and they do take Medicare and Medicaid, which can make things less complicated when it comes to health insurance, and the focus is on providing high-quality care for different types of needs, whether someone is recovering after surgery, needs long-term help, or is dealing with memory problems, with services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy built into the schedule for those who need it. There are also assisted living services for people who are a bit more independent but still want extra support, and respite care is offered for short-term stays if caregivers need a break. You'll find special programs, including memory care and different therapies, and a focus on personalized attention for everyone's daily life.

People can take part in daily activities like movie nights, music programs, arts, games, reading in the library, or fitness in the exercise room, and both community-sponsored and resident-run activities help bring folks together, keeping them socially and mentally active with programs planned for every day, while outdoor spaces like walking paths and garden areas give a sense of space and fresh air. Dining covers restaurant-style service and all-day options, where chefs and meal planners prepare nutritious food, and special diets, including meals for diabetes and allergies, can be arranged. Transportation and parking are available, making it easier for residents and their families to come and go for outings or appointments.

Housekeeping and laundry take a load off daily chores, and emergency alert systems add an extra sense of safety, while a caring staff works to keep the environment both safe and comfortable. The facility has earned awards like Best of Senior Living and Most Friendly, which might speak to how the staff treats people and how the community feels. There's a partnership with Tennessee Health Management for operations support, and the focus on professional, attentive care means residents' needs tend to get met with care and patience. The Highlands Of Dyersburg Health & Rehab aims to create a nurturing, inclusive place for seniors, where independence and well-being are encouraged, and families often notice the home-like feeling and the attention to both health and happiness.
