    Kind staff, dated facility, inconsistent

I placed my loved one here and have mixed feelings. The staff (especially Margie, nurses and many caregivers) are kind, supportive and truly helpful, and the rooms/courtyard are roomy and homey. However the building is dated, cleanliness and housekeeping are inconsistent (reports of urine odor, dirty carpets and unclean bathrooms), and chronic understaffing-particularly at night-plus management turnover and poor communication are real concerns. Activities and meals are generally adequate but limited at times, and transportation/therapy availability can be spotty. Cost is on the high side but some families find the peace of mind worth it; I'd recommend Belvedere Commons only with reservations depending on your loved one's care needs.

    About Belvedere Commons of Franklin

Belvedere Commons of Franklin sits in Franklin, Tennessee, and provides both assisted living and memory care services in a purpose-built community that's focused on creating a safe, caring environment for older adults who need extra help or are living with dementia or Alzheimer's. The staff helps residents with daily needs like bathing, dressing, getting around, and managing medicines, and they also offer more advanced support such as incontinence care, diabetic care-including insulin shots-and help for those who may wander or show aggressive behaviors, so families with loved ones who need a watchful eye often take some comfort knowing about the secured areas and special bracelets that signal the team if someone tries to leave. There's a doctor on call, a nurse on staff, and specialty providers and a primary care provider come right on site, while the community has 24-hour staffing and a full-time activity director who keeps folks busy and engaged with spiritual activities, wellness and exercise programs, art classes, gardening clubs, educational talks, trivia, community service, games, movie nights, and social outings around the area, plus a raised gardening bed, outdoor courtyards-some shaded with pergolas and flowers-a TV lounge, meeting rooms, a fireplace, a beauty salon and barber shop, and comfy indoor and outdoor spaces with plush chairs and spots to chat with neighbors or read a book. Memory care residents have their own building with private patio access in some rooms, a big TV, fish tank, and even a popcorn machine, all in bright, cheerful spaces designed to help reduce confusion and prevent wandering, while keeping plenty of dignity and independence. Meals come three times a day with anytime dining, special diets like low or no sodium or sugar, private dining rooms for hosting guests, and tasty food with both comfort and variety, and housekeeping and laundry are done weekly, so people don't have to worry about chores, but if they do want to help out or try new things, there's always something going on. The community encourages pet ownership, letting people bring along their dogs or cats, and runs a few pet-focused programs, so animal lovers can keep enjoying animal company. They don't take Medicare or Medicaid, but folks use long-term care insurance or Veterans Benefits if they have them, and the community can support people as their needs get more complex, since it has several levels of care all under one roof. The living spaces have simple comfort-a choice of studio or one-bedroom, private or shared suites, kitchenettes, individual heat and air controls, and a home-like feel with lots of natural light. Residents get help with everything from reminders to move around and stretch to grief support, hospice care, and stand-by assistance including lifts and transfers, all trying to make life smoother day by day, whether someone is staying for a while or needs respite care just for a short time. There's free Wi-Fi, TV lounges, library, outside patios, resident parking, and free transportation for errands and trips, and people get devotional services onsite and off, and group meetings for different kinds of spiritual nourishment, so the community tries to cover most needs, both big and small, and the staff aim to give residents friendly support while letting them stay connected, active, and as independent as possible as they age.
