    Attentive, affordable care in community

I placed my parent at Trousdale Senior Living Center and overall have a positive experience: the staff are kind, responsive and professional, care is good, activities are plentiful, meals are provided, visitation is flexible and the small, down-home atmosphere feels welcoming and close to home. The building is older and can feel dark, weekends have been occasionally short-staffed, and management/cleaning responsiveness has been uneven at times. Despite that, I'd recommend it for attentive, affordable care in a small community.

    About Trousdale Senior Living Center

Trousdale Senior Living Center sits quietly in the hills of Hartsville, Tennessee, offering a peaceful place for people aged 55 and older who want to stay active but might need some help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and managing medicines, and you know it's the first center of its kind in this small town, built on one level so there are no stairs or elevators to worry about, and you'll find 24 apartments, including studio, semi-private, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options, all wired for cable and set up for comfort. Meals come three times a day with snacks, made from scratch in the kitchen, so residents don't need to fuss with cooking, and staff handle laundry and linens plus daily housekeeping, with private cleaning available if you want it, while a beauty salon and barbershop onsite make it easy to get a haircut without leaving the building. Folks gather in indoor common spaces or out on patios and gardens, and there are regular activities, which is easy when there's a full-time activity director who keeps things running with games, exercise classes, music, arts and crafts, story time, group outings, and even visits to offsite devotional services, alongside in-house services for those who like to worship close to home. The activity schedule encourages residents to move, make friends, and enjoy their hobbies, and there's a gardening group, musical programs, and recreation rooms for gathering or hosting family parties. The staff, including licensed caregivers always awake, offer standby transfers for folks needing help from bed to chair, monitor blood sugar for residents with diabetes, and support light and medium care needs but aren't set up for heavy care; they'll assist with activities of daily living but need residents to manage their own incontinence care and can't give insulin, though they do help track blood sugar levels. Hospice care is available, and adult day care runs at $10 per hour for those staying between 4 and 10 hours, and they provide short-term or respite care at $100 a day if families need a break or help in emergencies. There's transportation to appointments or outings, parking for guests and residents, and some pets are allowed, making it feel more like home, and you'll find everything on a single level for easy navigation, set in the rolling countryside that's even been called Gatlinburg-like by some. Pricing here's all-inclusive-activities, food, and rides are part of it-with payment through private pay, veterans' benefits, social security, private insurance, and a Waiver Program, and extra fees for a second resident, a one-time move-in charge, and variable rates based on care needs, all on a property built to feel cozy and safe like family, licensed to serve up to 36 residents since opening new in 2007, and all the details can be found at their website if you want to look further.
