    Warm caring staff but understaffed

I moved my mother in and overall it feels warm and home-like - friendly, genuinely caring staff (Emily and Robin were especially helpful), lively activities, good meals, and a fantastic location near Vanderbilt/Belmont, restaurants and shopping. Residents seemed happy and engaged, move-in support was smooth, and the community offers plentiful outings, therapy services and 24/7 nursing. My biggest concerns were understaffing/turnover (sometimes too few aides), occasional cold phone/customer-service responses, some maintenance/cleanliness hiccups, an older building with limited outdoor space and weekend staffing gaps. If you value social life and medical convenience it's worth considering - just confirm current staffing, weekend coverage and dining/management stability before committing.

    About Morningside of Belmont

Morningside of Belmont is a senior living community right in Nashville, Tennessee, in a newly renovated eight-story building that has a warm, homey feel to it, where people over the age of 55 can live in studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom assisted living apartments, some with kitchenettes and cozy touches like sitting areas, ensuite bathrooms, and private balconies with city views or access to fresh air, and there's this rooftop terrace with chairs and modern railings so residents can sit outside and take it all in. The community has both indoor and outdoor spaces like nicely-lit activity rooms, comfortable seating areas, a beauty salon and barbershop, and lovely garden and patio spots with plants and a fountain, so you can always find a good place to relax, and there are devotional services both onsite and offsite too if someone wants that.

Meals come prepared by a chef and served in an elegant dining room with lots of natural light, and residents will also find snacks during different activities, which range from live music and piano in the common room to gardening clubs, exercise classes, and popcorn or books for quieter times. The place runs all kinds of programs for social, educational, and recreational needs, aiming for what they call a balanced approach, which covers care, social life, nutrition, and a pleasant living environment, and really, they do try to keep people busy and connected with each other.

Morningside of Belmont offers different levels of care, so someone might have light, medium, or heavier needs, and the staff, who are there all hours, can help with daily routines like bathing, dressing, health checks, medication management, and even transferring friends from beds to wheelchairs, and they help people who need standby assistance if they're not able to walk on their own. Helpers also support residents with bladder incontinence, and nurses are available to give insulin injections and do blood sugar tests for folks with diabetes. The community allows for short-term stays and offers hospice and respite care, so families can get extra help when they need to, and for those who need memory care, the place has technology like bracelets to keep wandering from happening and tries to reduce confusion for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia.

For anyone interested in therapy, visiting physical, occupational, and speech therapists come regularly, and there's an Ageility Physical Therapy Solutions program onsite to help with outpatient rehab. Residents can also bring their pets since the place is pet-friendly, and they can smoke outside but not inside any of the indoor private or public areas.

When it comes to moving in, there's a community fee and extra charges for higher care or when more than one person shares a unit. Morningside of Belmont accepts various payment options, including private pay, social security, veteran's benefits, and some insurance plans. Parking for residents is available, and there's complimentary transportation for going out and about when needed. Five Star Senior Living operates the community, and really, the whole idea is to have a friendly, safe, and active space for seniors who want both independence and support with daily life.
