    Warm community, lovely grounds, issues

I moved in and overall feel grateful - the staff are warm, energetic and often go above and beyond, the community is social and welcoming, and the apartments and grounds are lovely with great views. Activities are plentiful and the place feels safe and homey. My biggest frustrations: the food is hit-or-miss (too salty, heavy on pork/sweets - not great for diabetics/heart patients), housekeeping and cleanliness can be inconsistent, and there have been pest and hallway-odor issues. The building is older with frequent elevator problems, though renovations and elevator replacements are planned. Management turnover, occasional billing/upfront-fee headaches, and staffing shortages have caused growing pains. It's good value for many looking for independent living, but be aware it's not assisted care and you should tour carefully and ask about fees, maintenance, and the dining program.

This high-rise community offers different kinds of care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and continuing care retirement community services, so people can get support as their needs change without moving to another place. Residents can choose from studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, all with furnished bedrooms-beds, dressers, mirrors, and some decor-plus comfortable living rooms with natural light, walk-in showers, private balconies, and hotel-style amenities that include three chef-prepared meals a day and weekly housekeeping. Common spaces are set up for socializing, with lounges, a library, a game room with a pool table, and a big-screen TV room, while an arts and crafts room, activity room, and recreation room offer regular events and activities, so there's always something to do whether folks prefer cards, fitness, movies, or just reading a book in a quiet corner. The grounds are landscaped with walking paths, outdoor patios with metal tables and a place to grill, and there's resident parking for those who drive, with wheelchair access all through the community. People can bring their pets, and the atmosphere is friendly with staff always on hand, and there's even space for residents to invite outside home care agencies if they want more personal or healthcare support-plus, they can pay for only the services they need. There's occupational, physical, and speech therapy available through third-party services if needed, and personal emergency response devices like the Lively Mobile Plus come with the place for safety. Windlands South is built for comfort and daily living, with all-inclusive services, most utilities covered in the rent, and plenty of options for meals, activities, and support, whether someone is living independently, needs help with daily activities, or is living with Alzheimer's or other memory issues.
