    Compassionate attentive caregivers and environment

I moved my mom into this small, home-like community and could not be more pleased. The long-tenured, compassionate staff and warm house manager made move-in easy and flexible, the caregivers are hands-on and attentive, and residents genuinely seem loved and engaged - my mom is content, healthier, and calmer. Grounds and rooms are well-maintained and personalized, communal spaces are comfortable, meals are nutritious, communication is proactive, and the environment feels safe and spotless.

About Avalon Memory Care - Hughes Circle

Avalon Memory Care - Hughes Circle sits in Dallas, Texas, and is a purpose-built community designed to help people with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other types of memory loss live safely and comfortably, so what you'll see when walking in is a place that feels homelike, with private and semi-private rooms that let folks express their own style, plus plenty of floor plan options so there's really something for everyone whether they want more privacy or if they'd rather share. The community keeps all doors secured with magnetic door locks and uses technology like safety bracelets to help keep residents from wandering off, so families can feel more at ease knowing their loved one is in a safe place, and both indoor and outdoor areas are fenced in and secured, including patios and walking paths where residents can spend time in the sun and enjoy some fresh air without worries.

Staff members-who've all passed fingerprint checks from the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services-are around 24 hours a day, including Certified Nurses Assistants and a nurse on staff, and they keep up with continued training about memory care, so if there's someone who needs help with daily things like bathing, dressing, or reminders for the bathroom, the team is always right there to lend a hand, and they're also equipped to help folks who need help with transferring or have incontinence, plus there's standby help or assisted transfers when needed, and they can manage diabetic residents who take their own insulin and can offer help if someone's behavior gets tough to handle or if they're at risk for wandering and leaving.

Avalon Memory Care - Hughes Circle only allows indoor smoking in outdoor areas, never inside, and pets are welcome if someone wants to have their dog or cat nearby, which can make a big difference to folks who don't want to give up that comfort, and that's something not everywhere allows. You'll find the staff gives a lot of attention to making sure everyone's care plan fits their own needs instead of treating everyone the same, and there's always an eye on supporting dignity and self-esteem, which really seems to set this place apart, alongside their history of positive reviews and some award recognition for their quality of care, but of course no place is ever perfect.

Meal times are flexible, and residents can get meals any time if they want, with a professional chef in charge and lots of options, including gluten-free, low-sodium, vegetarian, vegan, kosher, or organic meals, so most diets can be accommodated, and family or friends can join for guest meals in a restaurant-style dining room or in the resident's own room, and laundry, housekeeping, and beauty/barber services are right there onsite, so nobody has to give up those routines, plus there's Wi-Fi, cable TV, and a kitchen in every residence.

There's a set schedule of activities, including games, gardening club, crafts, holiday events, music, religious and devotional programs, and group outings like grocery shopping or day trips, and each person's schedule can be tweaked to match their habits or preferences, all with the goal of helping keep everyone mentally active and socially connected as much as possible, and you'll see that many of the amenities-like common areas, the coffee shop, and swimming pool-are set up to encourage folks to spend time together, which can help with the loneliness or confusion that sometimes comes from memory problems.

Avalon Memory Care - Hughes Circle can support aging in place, which means residents can stay as their needs change and don't have to move when they start needing more help, and the facility can also offer hospice or respite care for short-term stays, plus there are different care levels available based on each person's needs, all within a small, community-focused setting that's licensed by Texas for assisted living and memory care. The environment, modeled more like a boutique family home with multiple locations around Texas, is designed so people feel comfortable, valued, and safe through every stage of memory loss, with professional, sensitive attention to their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
