    About Hope Village

Hope Village sits on an 18-acre campus with five care homes, and you find both private and semi-private rooms here, so it doesn't feel crowded, and they've set up the place to be safe and easy to get around for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The staff here get called helpful, joyful, and kind, and they're well-known for giving care around the clock, with support for things like dressing, bathing, and medication. They've been running since 1970, always with that mission to help people live, learn, and work with dignity and purpose, which you can see in their many programs and village life. You see folks working in their licensed work program, where they do packaging, collating, envelope stuffing, and similar jobs for local businesses, and get paid for each item completed, so people build real skills and confidence. There's a Day Program running during weekdays that uses facilities like a ceramics workshop, computer lab, large training area, gift shop, and the Village Cafe, plus they've got a resale shop and a chicken coop program, so there's always something to do whether you like crafts, work, or caring for animals. The place gets lively with fun Friday parties, dance nights in the ballroom, and even special events like Bingo, reverse Advent calendars at the holidays, barbecues, baseball games, and outings to the circus and rodeo. You'll find an outdoor pool and a recreation center, and the Village Cafe serves as both a dining spot and a space for activities and fundraising events. They also engage in advocacy work, with resources to track legislative updates, search for legislators, and keep up with calendars about new bills, and you'll see a good deal of housing self-assessment tools, guided searches for at-risk homelessness, and a strong focus on both short- and long-term support. The foundation behind Hope Village is nonprofit, so they host fundraising events to help support what goes on here, though residents pay privately for care. The health care options rely on state and federal support, with programs tied to the Affordable Care Act, HRSA-supported health centers, and there are many health resources, including a symptom checker, behavioral health learning centers, and support for things like opioid addiction, suicide prevention, and disaster mental health. They've won awards for their friendly staff, engaging activities, and quality care for seniors, and the meals here are prepared with good ingredients, focused on both nutrition and taste. They help people with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, and make sure the homes are set up to prevent confusion or wandering, keeping everyone safe. You'll also find respite care and day care for those with developmental needs, and families have to arrange for someone to help during emergencies-like hurricanes-and for basic necessities. On Sundays, you're likely to see residents joining in church services or Sunday School. Hope Village stands as a place where people of all ages with intellectual disabilities and other challenges can live, work, and take part in activities within a stable, caring setting, always keeping a focus on health, safety, purpose, and community.
