    Serious safety and cleanliness failures

I wanted to like this place - the staff, caregivers, nurses, food, activities and social atmosphere were often excellent and welcoming, and common areas can be very clean. However my experience uncovered serious problems: rooms and closets neglected, pest infestations (roaches/rodent droppings), broken beds and equipment, shortages of supplies, poor infection control and ignored call bells. Administration and nursing management seemed uncaring or absent, with safety and certification issues that make this unsuitable for people with dementia. Recommend urgent inspection and extreme caution before placing a loved one here.

About Community Care Center of Hondo

Community Care Center of Hondo is a privately operated nursing home that sits in a quiet, home-like setting, and while there isn't a lot of direct information out there about the center itself, what's clear is that they're known for providing a wide range of care services for folks who need support with daily living or specialized medical needs. The facility has a dedicated team of nurses and other professionals who look after the medical and social needs of residents, working off personalized care plans that help people stay as independent as possible for as long as they can. They're set up for both short-term and long-term stays, offering skilled nursing care, rehabilitation services, and memory care for those with Alzheimer's or other cognitive issues, along with therapies aimed at helping people feel their best physically, mentally, and spiritually. You'd notice the comfortable living spaces, cozy corners, and inviting communal areas where residents gather for meals or to visit. The grounds are nicely landscaped, so folks can sit outside and get some fresh air when the weather allows. There are improvements made from time to time as they keep working to better the facility and maintain their healthcare accreditations, which says something about their commitment to high standards. The staff go about their day providing care, helping with chronic health problems, and making sure everyone has what they need whether that's reliable medical attention, a quiet place to rest, or a group activity to pass the afternoon. There are many amenities and services, though the specifics aren't all listed, and the center has ways of helping with employment and verification processes, along with specialized support when people have trouble with website access or need technical help with facility services. The focus always seems to come back to helping residents enjoy a good quality of life and feel part of a strong, caring community, which matters a lot when looking for the right place to call home during times when care is needed.
