Dorothy's House Assisted Living gives seniors a safe and comfortable place to live, with help for daily needs like bathing, dressing, and taking medicine, and there's always staff around to help, even at night if something happens or someone needs anything, and that's nice because as people get older it helps to have someone there when needed. The place has a homelike feel, and the homes are single-level, ranch-style, with big backyards and secure patios so folks can get fresh air safely. There's a separate, secure area for up to 60 residents with Alzheimer's, and the staff gives extra care meant for people who need memory support or rehabilitation, so whether someone needs short-term help to recover or long-term help because they struggle with memory, the care matches what they need. Seniors get nutritious meals, can spend time in common areas, and join in on planned activities or relaxing in the MediaBox and CropBox spaces, with resources like ColorSpace and Font to add comfort or keep busy. The place makes sure to focus on the whole person, not just physical care, and tries to help with social, emotional, and spiritual needs, offering both group activities and quiet places to sit. Dorothy's House Assisted Living also provides transportation for errands or appointments. Safety features are built in everywhere, and nurses help with health needs around the clock. Veterans get special recognition and housing options. People helping run Dorothy's House manage affordable homes nationally, raising money to build secure places and handle the property and investments with care, including working with different partners and making sure everything stays well run for those who live there.
Gorgeous facility, caring staff, caveats
I placed my loved one here and overall I'm grateful - the facility is gorgeous, spotless, and feels like home, and the owners and staff (Sara and others) are caring, attentive, and often go above and beyond so residents smile. That said, we experienced some serious caveats: spotty communication, medication mix-ups, food/meal billing issues, high staff turnover and pressure around reviews/contract requirements. Despite those concerns, the compassionate day-to-day care and welcoming atmosphere make this a place I would recommend with caution.
