    Warm, caring Alzheimer's care facility

I placed my grandpa here and couldn't be happier. The small, homelike facility with attractive warm decor felt safe during COVID (regular testing, negative results) and the staff are professional, genuinely caring, and incredibly responsive. They went above and beyond with the move, provided tailored Alzheimer's care, and my grandpa is settled, making friends and improving - management leads by example. I highly recommend this place.

    About AutumnGrove Cottage at Pearland

AutumnGrove Cottage at Pearland is a small, private-pay assisted living community with room for sixteen residents, and everything at this location is set up specifically for people with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia-related illnesses, which makes the setting feel personal and almost like a home, with sixteen private bedrooms and a simple, open design that helps people who have memory loss find their way around more easily. There are large windows for lots of natural light, inviting wood floors, and bathrooms with tile work, safety grab bars, and big walk-in showers. The whole building is locked and secure, with a memory care wing and technology like bracelets that sound alarms if a resident wanders, so it works for people who wander or may act out, and staff know how to handle different behaviors, help with transfers, and provide standby, one-person or two-person help, or use mechanical lifts as needed, because they're used to handling residents with major behavior issues or exit-seeking tendencies.

The staff-to-resident ratio is high, and caregivers are well-screened and even voted on by each other before working there, and everyone does special training about memory care and cultural awareness to make sure people feel respected, and they have a registered nurse around 24 hours a day, with a doctor on call. Staff help with activities of daily living, medication management, bathing, personal hygiene, and mobility, and can support those with diabetes, bowel, or bladder incontinence if the resident can handle it themselves. There's an onsite beautician, hospice care, pharmacy service, and medication reminders, so people can get the health care they need without leaving the building. The nutrition and hydration program is aimed at people with memory loss, and the kitchen and living area are open for a homey feel, with communal dining and guest meals available, and meals are covered in the cost so residents don't have to worry about planning.

There are plenty of spaces inside and out for relaxing, talking, and joining group activities, like common indoor rooms, a garden, a backyard with a patio, and pet-friendly options. People can join onsite activities like art or cooking classes, gardening clubs, devotionals, movement classes, games like TRIVIA, and music, movies, and literary programs. The cottage offers full laundry, housekeeping, and linen service, and is wheelchair accessible with roll-in showers and full tubs. Spiritual support and VA aid are available, and there are special services for therapies like physical therapy and rehabilitation. Residents get to stay as their care needs increase because the staff can adjust services as needed. Most rooms are studio type, with the average cost around $5,184. AutumnGrove Cottage at Pearland focuses everything-building design, activities, food, and staff training-on providing dignified care for seniors living with Alzheimer's and dementia, making it a place centered around comfort and safety.
