    Clean, social, but inconsistent care

I toured Mercer Place and really liked the clean, beautiful, small community - friendly, attentive staff, lively activities, and residents who seemed happy and social. My loved one enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but I also noticed troubling management and communication issues: inconsistent care, medication mix-ups, staff turnover, and slow or rude responses from leadership. It felt warm and family-like for mostly independent seniors, but not a fit if you need reliable skilled nursing or strong corporate oversight. I'd recommend it for social, lower-care needs - just verify staffing, safety protocols, and costs first.

    About Mercer Terrace

Mercer Terrace sits on one level and has wide hallways, making it easy for everyone to get around, and you'll find a mix of living choices from studio apartments that are about 308 square feet to one-bedrooms around 420 square feet, and all of them have their own kitchenette, refrigerator, and freezer so you can keep your favorite snacks handy, plus there's climate control, window coverings, carpeting, lots of closet space, a regular mailbox inside your apartment, good lighting, and sprinklers for extra safety, so it's about comfort and taking care of needs big and small. Staff include a full-time registered nurse on duty 24/7, keeping an eye on care and health, and every resident gets their own tailored care plan to address what matters to them, whether it's day-to-day help like bathing, dressing, or medication reminders-folks who need more support can use assisted living services, and there's memory care here, too, for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, ensuring safety and specific care when it's needed, while others who like being independent but want community can use the independent living option. Mercer Terrace welcomes pets and even has a dog park with a secure fence for safe playtime, and the community runs plenty of outings for shopping, dining, and even entertainment, so people stay involved with what's happening beyond the walls. There's always something on the activities calendar, like tai chi, group exercise or wellness classes, arts and crafts, bingo, board and card games, and themed parties to help everyone meet up if they feel like it, and you'll see outdoor gatherings with barbecues or a carnival now and then on the grounds. Residents get healthy, chef-prepared meals paired with a sample dining menu, and the building includes a hair salon and barber shop, activity room, lounges, guest accommodations, and weekly cleaning and laundry, so chores don't get in the way when you'd rather spend time on hobbies. Scheduled transportation makes it easier to get to doctor appointments or group day trips, and staff organize regular events and live entertainment so there's always a chance for laughter or learning something new. People who get skilled care at Mercer Terrace receive more support on site, and specialized programs are in place for those who need a little more than just reminders and meals, and funding resources are available for residents who qualify, helping with planning and costs. Mercer Terrace cares about making the setting social and safe, with caring staff, personalized care, medication management, and support that lets seniors thrive, and even if there's no long list of unique amenities to share, the community keeps a homelike, comfortable environment where everyone can feel they belong.
