    Compassionate staff, excellent memory care

I placed a loved one here and I'm very happy with the care - compassionate, patient staff who feel like family, attentive caregivers who give personal, dignified attention, engaging activities, and home-cooked meals in a beautiful memory-care cottage. The administrator is always available and the staff-to-resident ratio is excellent; I would highly recommend this place. I did hear one isolated short-stay complaint about overmedication, but our experience was overwhelmingly positive.

    About AutumnGrove Cottage Stone Oak

AutumnGrove Cottage Stone Oak is a private memory care community with 16 beds that focuses on supporting seniors with Alzheimer's and other dementia-related conditions, and the cottage itself looks and feels very much like a regular house, with cozy private bedrooms and open, bright common areas that have comfortable seating inside and out, including a big porch and a garden where residents can relax or visit. The staff, who get to know the residents one by one, are specially trained in memory care and are always nearby, with a low staff-to-resident ratio so each person gets the attention they need, and a registered nurse is available at all hours, so residents are always supervised and safe, even those who wander or need more direct help, and everyone can use the secure outdoor spaces thanks to a safely monitored fence and alarm bracelets for those who might forget where they are. Caregivers are kind and try to make it feel like a close family, helping with daily activities-bathing, dressing, meals, medication, diabetes care, and transfers-even using lifts if someone needs extra support getting from bed to a chair, and the staff can also manage major behavior issues and incontinence if those needs come up.

Residents eat three home-cooked meals a day in a shared dining room, with options for all sorts of dietary needs like low sodium, organic ingredients, and low sugar, and if someone feels hungry at odd hours, they're welcome to snacks and anytime dining. There's a full schedule of simple activities for brain fitness and social time, nobody has to join but there's always something going on, like games, arts and crafts, gardening, music, exercise, yoga, educational talks, cooking lessons, wine tastings, and holiday or family parties, plus devotional services are sometimes hosted onsite or offsite for those who want them, and doctors, therapists, and nurses visit for medical support or rehabilitation as needed.

The building is well-kept, always clean with no bad smells, and the amenities like a beauty salon, walking paths, wheelchair accessible showers and tubs, private rooms with emergency call systems, a great room, and community gardens help everyone feel at ease, while extra care like on-site pharmacy, visiting home-health agencies, and behavioral care are there if someone needs them. There's a single all-inclusive price with no hidden fees for higher care, and all services-light, medium, and heavy care-can be provided so people aren't forced to move as their needs change, and pets are allowed, dogs or cats, as long as they fit the guidelines, and the staff will help with their care, too.

The whole place runs under strict licensing (ASLB #105770, Type B ALF #311593), and they use electronic records to keep up with everyone's care, keeping communication clear for families and the staff. Since it's family owned and operated, there's a clear focus on keeping things personal, with lots of opportunities for real connection, independence, and dignity through every stage of memory loss, whether someone's staying short-term for respite or making AutumnGrove their new home.
