    Comfortable but aging with issues

I live here and like the quiet, affordable, peaceful setting - spacious rooms, nice grounds for walking, and some very helpful, conscientious staff. The property is aging and run-down in places: peeling paint, old/stinky carpets, rat problems, and fewer amenities than newer complexes. Management/office staff can be slow, rude, and inconsistent - I've seen unequal treatment and a rushed move-out after a death where belongings were removed despite video evidence, so accountability is worrying. No wheelchair access in many areas. Overall I'm comfortable and happy but wary; not ideal if you need strong maintenance or accessibility.

    About La Vista Retirement Community

La Vista Retirement Community gives residents a sit-down dining experience with meal service in a welcoming setting, and you'll find at least three social events scheduled every week, plus residents plan some gatherings themselves, so people can keep busy or just relax if they like. The facility has spots for quiet moments and lively get-togethers, with amenities like a sparkling pool that stays open year-round, a Beauty Salon and Barber Shop right on the property, and a coffee room offering morning coffee. There's a big Community Center, which has a multi-purpose room for parties, luncheons, and meetings, round tables and chairs, a library, computers with high-speed internet, a large screen TV, and even two video phone stations for residents to keep in touch with family or friends. Apartments are all on the ground level, in single-story cottage-style buildings, and come in one-bedroom and two-bedroom layouts, all with central heat and AC, washer/dryer hookups, ceiling fans, big closets, a pantry, vaulted ceilings, and some laminate wood flooring in the bedrooms. The community stresses independence, but it's also set up for folks who need some help, since La Vista is a Continuing Care Retirement Community and offers independent living, assisted living, and even hospice, home health care, and primary care services through dedicated and trained care staff. There are exercise classes like water aerobics, a walking trail, a relaxing indoor garden, and regular activities and full day programs, with senior housing for those 55 and older and accessible features for those with handicaps. The professional management staff takes care of operations, and there's ADA compliance throughout. Residents can use video phones in the community room and can log into social media like Facebook and Messenger. Every apartment has washer and dryer hookups, and there's a focus on making life comfortable and easy, so people find what they need here, from home health aid services to a place to gather with friends for social hours or a quiet cup of coffee in the morning.
