    About Our House

Our House sits in a quiet neighborhood for people age fifty-five and up in Silsbee, Texas, and looks like a big Colonial house built back in 1949, so it's got lots of space with sixteen bedrooms and sixteen and a half baths stretched out over two stories, and while it's always had the look of a family place, it's set up with modern things like ramps and features for folks who need disabled access, and there's a long list of rooms you don't always see, like a family room, a mud room, a library, an attic, a workshop, and a pantry, and you'll find a ceiling fan spinning up above and hardwood floors underfoot all throughout the place. The house uses vinyl siding outside, has a mix of asphalt and shake shingles on the roof, and keeps the grass and garden watered by a sprinkler system, with some pleasant spots to sit on the porch, patio, or out on the lawn, and if you've got a car, there's a garage with eight spaces right there attached to the house, which makes it handy. Safety's looked after by a security system, and the kitchen and laundry have all the needed appliances-dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, washer, and dryer-and even the cable's ready for use.

Our House Retirement Home is a community for folks who want to live on their own or need different levels of help, and it works both as an independent living spot and an assisted living facility, but it's also got memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia and skilled nursing care for those who need it. The staff can help with moving from bed to wheelchair, help with medication, and even monitor insulin for residents with diabetes, and they're around day and night if there's an emergency or someone needs help. The place serves meals to all residents, which helps save time and money on cooking, and there are indoor spaces to sit and talk, play games, or just relax, so it's easy to make friends or find some peace and quiet. You'll notice there are organized activities on-site and off, including devotional events, so folks can keep busy and social if they want to. There are several room choices, from studios to two-bedrooms, and shared rooms too, with different costs depending on the kind of care someone needs, whether high, medium, or low. Payments can be made by private funds, social security, or veteran's benefits, and there are extra fees if two people share a room or for different levels of care, and there's even respite care if someone needs a short stay.

All the basics are handled at Our House, including staffing to help with non-medical tasks, diabetic and ambulatory care, healthy meals, and a warm, calm setting where people can get companionship and the help they need while keeping as much independence as possible, and with amenities like gardens, a patio, and a library, there's always a quiet corner or a friendly face around.
