West Rest Haven sits at 503 Meadow Drive in West, Texas, and has served older adults since 1967 with a range of care options, including long-term care, short-term rehab, outpatient rehab, memory care for people with Alzheimer's and dementia, and respite care for families who need a break, and the building can house up to 120 residents at a time, which means there's often a waiting list for those interested in staying here. The community sits about fifteen miles north of Waco and eighty miles south of Fort Worth or Dallas, so it's close enough for families to visit easily, and there aren't set visiting hours, so loved ones can usually stop by throughout the day. The staff offers plenty of help, with twenty-four-hour emergency support, skilled nursing, medication management, and rehabilitation professionals who work with those recovering from injuries or surgeries, plus consistent care for memory care residents. Residents can join group activities, like art and music classes, crafts, games, cooking, gardening, outings, and times for storytelling, and there's also spiritual programming and counseling for residents and families. West Rest Haven is a community-owned facility that's Medicare and Medicaid certified, and the state of Texas, through its Health & Human Services department, oversees its license. Rooms and common areas focus on comfort and safety, and staff provide linens, meals, and nursing support, and try to keep a friendly, respectful atmosphere. Families use an online form to provide information about their loved one's needs, and staff use that to help plan each person's care and support program. The organization believes that staying active and connected helps everyone feel more at home, so they schedule events and offer plenty of opportunities for socializing, but they also work to respect each person's independence and privacy, since some need more help than others. West Rest Haven doesn't list every service or amenity in detail, and some information may be missing, but in general, residents find a caring environment with nursing oversight, personal care, medication management, therapy, and companionship, especially for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, all within a safe and comfortable setting.

Abusive management, neglectful, untrustworthy staff
I wanted to like it-the building is bright and clean and the meals/activities looked nice-but my experience was awful. Management is abusive/untouchable, most staff are lazy or untrustworthy, and neglect led to my grandmother's hospitalization, malnutrition, sores and infections. A small handful of dedicated caregivers tried to help, but procedures are ignored and theft/nasty attitudes are common. I strongly recommend avoiding this place.
