Renaissance of Annandale sits in a quiet suburb southwest of Washington, D.C. and offers seniors both assisted living and memory care, so folks dealing with Alzheimer's or other dementia have extra support. Residents get care with grooming and medication, plus there's 24-hour nursing for anyone who needs it. The staff here have experience with dementia care, and the leadership team works to make each day matter for people living with memory loss. The building feels homey, with cozy interiors, bright windows, and a courtyard full of walking paths where people can sit or take a stroll when the weather's nice. Residents can join book clubs, gardening clubs, or cooking clubs, and there's almost always something to do-from activities that start in the morning and go until nine at night, to weekly field trips that help keep minds sharp and days interesting. There's a kitchenette for those who want to cook, a hair salon, and a dining room where everyone gathers for meals. People who live here have safe spaces indoors and outside, and there's secure design to help prevent confusion or wandering. The care team helps with dressing, bathing, or whatever's needed to help folks feel comfortable as they go about their day. Apartment layouts include special plans for memory care, and there are programs meant to make life better for those with dementia. Veterans have access to some resources, and there's even rehabilitation services if that's needed. Family members say the staff communicates well and treats residents kindly. The goal at Renaissance of Annandale is to help seniors live with safety, comfort, and purpose, surrounded by people who really care about them.

Compassionate staff engaging safe community
I highly recommend this memory-care community - I felt immediate trust in the compassionate, knowledgeable staff (Jerome, Jonathan and Jessica stood out) who truly go the extra mile. My husband adjusted beautifully, is engaged in varied activities and weekly outings, and we get clear, frequent family communication with photos/videos; the facility is bright, clean, safe and welcoming with a secure courtyard. Move-in was fast and smooth, meds, PT and hospice guidance were professional, and there are helpful support groups and lots of social programming. Not perfect - food was mediocre, common-area furniture felt plasticky and rooms are small but adequate.
