    Warm, compassionate staff with caveats

I placed my mom at Paramount and have been impressed by the warm, family-like staff, on-site PT/OT, meals, housekeeping and laundry included, and an active activities program that helped her settle. Admissions and management (Parween and Seth especially) were proactive, coordinated well with nursing/food/maintenance, and communicated with our family via FaceTime. The building is clean, roomy, and feels like home, and the caregivers are compassionate and dedicated. Downsides: staffing can be thin at times, response/medication/mealtime consistency varies, and it's not a substitute for skilled nursing-occasional maintenance, food quality and security hiccups occur. Overall I'm grateful for the team and would recommend Paramount with those caveats.

About Paramount Senior Living at Fredericksburg

Paramount Senior Living at Fredericksburg sits on Meekins Drive in Fredericksburg, Virginia, in a quiet place with gardens, walking paths, and lots of windows that bring in good light, which makes it feel open, safe, and home-like, and if someone likes to be outdoors, there's a big veranda with plenty of chairs, and you might see folks sitting there or walking in the enclosed courtyard or along the landscaped paths. The staff works all hours, so residents get help if they need it day or night, and there's a nurse always available plus a doctor on call, and skilled nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists visit on a set schedule. This place has services for many needs, so someone who moves in when they're pretty independent can stay as their needs change-they have options for independent living with full kitchens and big fridges, assisted living for daily help like bathing and dressing, and Alzheimer's and dementia care with secured doors, specialized programs, and staff who know how to manage wandering or acting out; they also offer respite care, therapy, hospice, home health, and even rehab services, so folks don't have to move if they need more care down the road, unless they need a very secure dementia area.

People here get three home-style meals every day, and if someone's on a diet like low sodium or low sugar, or needs their meals pureed or chopped up small, the kitchen can handle that, and meals are served in a pretty dining room, though they'll bring food to a resident's room if that's easier, and guests can eat, too. There's free Wi-Fi, cable TV, laundry and housekeeping, a beauty and barber shop, and plenty of parking for people who still drive or have visitors, and the building has fire safety features and lots of cozy corners with fireplaces or big chairs, plus a game room and a stocked library if someone likes to read or play cards, and there's a TV lounge and a movie room for group viewing. Residents keep busy without having to plan things themselves because there's a full-time activity director-things like yoga, gardening, educational groups, brain fitness, movie nights, and family meetings happen regularly, and there are trips, clubs, community service, and spiritual gatherings, both Catholic and other denominations; even those who want to stay in their faith community or need bereavement counseling or spiritual support will find services on or off the property, and there are scheduled socials every week.

For people with pets, Paramount allows both cats and dogs, so folks don't have to part with their companions, and with the secured areas and staff trained for all sorts of behaviors, residents prone to wandering or needing reminders for grooming or medication are looked after, with bracelet alarms and monitored exits to keep everyone safe. Suites range from private to shared, always with a private bathroom, and all have emergency pull cords, comfy carpet, and layouts that suit single people or married couples. Prices average $1,850, and smoking isn't allowed inside. The community is known for having a warm and cheerful atmosphere, and staff greet residents by name each day, which helps people feel less lonely. Assistive devices, like walkers, hospital beds, and wheelchairs, are available, and the facility supplies personal care for hygiene, mobility, toileting, and safety checks. Transportation for medical trips or group outings is free or may cost something extra, depending on what's needed. There's a minimum age, so all residents are seniors. The community runs on a policy of ongoing training for its staff, especially in memory care and dementia support, and the building stays up to date with state licensing, so everything meets regulations and safety standards. Residents and families can come take a tour, see a meal served, and try out a few activities to get a real picture of daily life at Paramount Senior Living at Fredericksburg, where services cover independent living, assisted living, dementia care, home health, hospice, skilled nursing, and rehab therapy, with plenty of different apartment layouts and support for each resident's changing needs over time.
