Elancé at Tuckahoe sits at 567 North Parham Road in Henrico, VA, and offers nearly every senior care option you might need under one roof, so folks looking for active adult living, independent living, assisted living, memory care, home care, adult day services, long-term care, skilled nursing, home health care, or hospice care all have a place here, and the whole thing gives off a friendly community feeling with lots of ways to tailor the help to what each person needs, whether that's care with daily tasks or just a social place to call home. The community stays staffed all day and night, with nurses and aides-like CNAs, PCAs, med techs, LPNs, RNs, and a nursing supervisor-always close by, and every team member trains regularly, including folks who aren't nurses, so people can relax knowing someone's always ready to help or respond if the resident alert pendants are pressed, and quick checks on residents keep everyone safe. The grounds and buildings are well kept, with gardens, outdoor spaces, quiet courtyards, and rooms with lots of natural light, private balconies in some apartments, studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom layouts, plus pets like small dogs, cats, or birds are welcome with the handy Leash On Life program if anyone needs extra help with animals. For those needing memory care, the Inspiritás neighborhood keeps things calm and safe, with private secure rooms on the ground floor, special memory boxes filled with family photos, wander protection, and focused activities that encourage comfort and safety for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, and the program considers emotional, social, and even spiritual needs, which can mean a lot when every day feels new for some. Meals come from in-house chefs and a registered dietitian, so food meets different needs and tastes, and residents can eat in elegant dining rooms set for comfort. Life here stays lively with all kinds of activities, events, day trips, transportation for outings and appointments, and even on-site entertainment like a movie theater and golf simulator, plus there's an indoor pool, fitness center, salon, and barbershop for haircuts and massages, and regular vaccine clinics for flu and COVID keep folks a bit more protected. Residents can join in on chapel time, use the well-stocked library, sit by outdoor fireplaces, and take part in enrichment programs or just stroll around the beautiful grounds, and there are aides for those who live independently, those who need a lot of care, or those who use respite services for short stays. The setup supports "aging in place," which means residents don't need to move again as care needs change, with everything from home health care, hospice, or even non-medical home care for those who want to stay in their own rooms but need extra help. There's also a helpful group of resident ambassadors to welcome new folks so nobody gets lost in the shuffle, and the place has awards for care, nice amenities like high-speed Wi-Fi, good accessibility, daily housekeeping, linen, and a concierge desk that stays open most hours but keeps things safe with secure entry at night. Elancé at Tuckahoe's known as "The Barclay at Tuckahoe" by some, and the staff really try to keep things comfortable, social, and respectful, with support for residents and their families in whatever way makes sense, all while keeping the place both lively and peaceful no matter what kind of help a person needs.

Nice facility but serious problems
I moved into Anthology of Tuckahoe's new building and love the bright, modern facility, convenient West End location, clean well-tended apartment, friendly/compassionate staff, active social life, and generally good meals. That said, persistent problems - high staff and management turnover, inconsistent communication, understaffing, medication errors/delays, billing and maintenance issues (elevators/HVAC, bathroom heat/water pressure, nonfunctional call pendants) - have been serious and at times dangerous. Some staff go above and beyond and improvements have occurred after management got involved, but I'd recommend this community only cautiously and after confirming current leadership, staffing, medication protocols, and repairs.
