Birmingham Green has served seniors since 1927 and has grown over the years, so folks there can find long-term care, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care services for Alzheimer's and dementia, and rehabilitation with physical, occupational, and speech therapy all in one place, and the rooms come as either private assisted living apartments or private and semi-private nursing home rooms, which can be helpful for people who want their own space or need a bit more support. The staff, led by Administrator Denise Chadwick Wright, includes about 246 full-time equivalents and focuses on personalized care plans, keeping a resident-focused staff ratio and making sure everyone gets what they need for comfort and safety, and because the facility gets monthly safety audits, there's a good effort to keep things in check. Birmingham Green runs a 24-hour secured community with access to medical professionals at all hours, so folks have help nearby if they need it, whether that's medication management or hospital care, and Medicare and Medicaid help cover skilled nursing services. Residents get a full calendar of activities and outings, entertainment, and even intergenerational programs, plus there are chances for learning for both the staff and the people living there. The center uses the latest technology with state-of-the-art innovation centers, offers rehabilitation gyms, and tries to make sure care is person-centered. The community had 180 licensed beds and over 55,000 patient days for the 2022-2023 fiscal year, so it's been busy, and with on-site medical professionals and therapy options on hand, a person looking for a continuum of care could find some practical choices here, especially as Birmingham Green's always had a focus on safety, structure, and steady improvement over time, which seems to matter a lot to those living there.

Caring staff but aging facility
I found the staff overwhelmingly caring and attentive-plenty of hands on deck, 24/7 nursing, lively activities (bingo, movies, classes) and well-kept grounds. The building feels older and hospital-like, with many shared/small rooms and limited private bathrooms. Cleanliness and food were inconsistent: some areas bright and tidy and meals praised, others had worn spots, dead insects, or complaint about taste; there are also disturbing reports of mishandled care (delay in nurse response, rough lifting, misidentification) and poor communication. Bottom line: great people and activities, but an aging facility with uneven care-I'd only recommend with close oversight.
