    Mostly negative unsafe unkempt inconsistent

I lived here and had a mixed but mostly negative experience. The leasing office and phone support were rude and unhelpful, though a few staff (LaCheryl) and activities like bingo and dance were nice. Safety and upkeep worried me - buzzer/entry often failed, parking lights were out, elevators broke down, and apartments were small with roaches, holes, AC leaks, wet/odorous carpet and awful trash smells. Maintenance was inconsistent: sometimes prompt, often delayed for months, and corporate rarely returned calls. I can't fully recommend this place.

    About Stonebridge Manor

Stonebridge Manor sits at 5432 Tidewater Drive in Norfolk, VA, and you'll see that it's a retirement community that's been around since 1981 with a total of 156 one- and two-bedroom apartments all with private bathrooms, some with patios or balconies, and it has options for both independent and assisted living for folks age 55 and older and those with disabilities. People like the pet-friendly rules and the chance to have a space that feels homey; residents can bring their own furniture and decorate as they like, which many find adds some comfort. The buildings are brick, multi-story, and have elevators, controlled access, handicap-accessible units, and enclosed walkways, so it's easy to get around for everyone. There's a clubhouse, library, activity and community rooms, laundry on site, landscaped grounds, sidewalks, and gathering spaces for neighbors to sit together, work on crafts, or talk over coffee. The staff are known to be cheerful and kindly, making an effort to check in on everyone, and many residents have remarked on the friendly feeling you get every day.

For those who like to keep busy, there's a full calendar with different activities, outings, and social programs that focus on mental, physical, and emotional well-being; there's even arts and crafts and regular community events. Stonebridge Manor has recognition in the community, like the Best of Senior Living and All-Star awards, which came because people appreciated good care and support. The property is close to the HRT bus line, making it easy for residents to get to appointments or shopping, and it sits near the I-64 entrance, so families can find it quickly. The kitchen staff put a lot of care into meals and work with nutritionists to make sure residents get good-tasting, balanced food. There are laundry rooms, 24-hour emergency maintenance, secure entry, and a safe environment for people at all different levels of care.

Stonebridge Manor offers independent living for people who mostly take care of themselves, assisted living for folks needing help with everyday tasks like bathing and taking medicine, and memory care for those with conditions like Alzheimer's or dementia, with trained staff and safety measures to keep everyone comfortable and prevent wandering. For people who stay at home, there are home care aides that provide companionship and help with daily things, but not medical care. The community supports an active lifestyle, encourages socializing, and lets people pursue old hobbies or try something new. The complex has 105,700 square feet and sits in the Norfolk-Lafayette River area within the Richmond-Tidewater market, and it allows people to lease for 12 months at a time with rent payment options that include private pay or personal checks. Utility details, property management info, and performance reports are always available, and veterans can find VA connections with Stonebridge Manor as well. The review score is 3.3 out of 7 reviews, showing honest and mixed feedback, which some folks find helpful when making a choice about where to live.
