    Warm attentive staff, excellent care

I toured and felt immediately welcomed - the staff are warm, professional and truly attentive, often going above and beyond. Care is excellent (including memory care) with 24/7 nursing, delicious meals, daily cleaning, and a full activity/entertainment calendar. The community is small, family-feeling, beautifully renovated with nice outdoor spaces, and administration was responsive with a solid COVID response. It's on the pricier side and apartments are modest; couples can face placement limits. Overall I highly recommend it.

    About Aarondale Community

Aarondale Community in Springfield, VA, sits on well-kept grounds close to Deerlick Park, and you can see the grand entrance right when you pull up, with classic columns, a big covered portico, and lots of flowers and shrubs around the building, which gives it a comfortable, home-like look. Inside, there are bright hallways filled with colorful artwork, tables, chairs, and neat resident rooms, plus a fancy two-story lobby with a chandelier, an elegant staircase, patterned carpet, and a reception desk that's staffed all day and all night. The living rooms and common areas are cozy, with modern furniture, game tables, and plenty of seating, while porches and patios with rocking chairs and wicker furniture make good spots to watch the gardens and relax during nice weather. Aarondale has 72 beds and offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care (called Inspiritás), as well as short-term Respite Care, and they'll even let you keep your cat or dog if you want.

The community provides a lot of care, offering medication management, help with daily tasks like bathing and dressing, and round-the-clock nursing staff, while doctors are on call, and nurses stay awake and available all night. They're set up to help people who need extra support, such as folks who need mechanical lifts or have trouble moving, and even those who show behaviors like wandering, aggression, or confusion, since the secure Memory Care building is separate and uses technology like bracelets to help prevent wandering. Memory Care here-called Inspiritás-focuses on residents with Alzheimer's and other dementias, with private ground-floor units, special outdoor courtyards, calming areas, and activities tailored for emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive needs. The team treats people like family, and a nurse and aides help with everything from therapy, speech, and physical care, to behavioral support, and even with hospice and end-of-life needs if needed.

Meals happen in dining rooms decorated with patriotic touches, and the kitchen can make special meals for folks who need low-salt, low-sugar, vegan, or vegetarian options. Meals are restaurant-style and you get three per day, with snacks and meals for guests as well. There's a strong focus on activities with a full-time activity director, so residents have yoga, art and cooking classes, movie nights in their cozy theater, fitness classes, trips, outings, wine tastings, and university lectures to keep minds and bodies busy. There are arts and crafts studios and an arts room, spacious common rooms with nature-inspired décor, a library with computers and internet, a spa and salon, walking paths winding through gardens, and outside lounge areas for fresh air and sunlight. Residents can also use the exercise and fitness center, or enjoy educational classes in a special classroom. Services like housekeeping, weekly laundry, scheduled transportation, and all utilities come included, so it's easy to live comfortably without worrying about chores.

The Executive Director, Ms. Amanda Waggy, leads the team at Aarondale, and the staff puts attention into keeping things safe with controlled entry, emergency response systems connected to nurses, sprinkler and fire safety setups, and maintenance ready for emergencies at all hours. If you want to age in place, Aarondale has options and can keep folks in the community as their needs grow, handling almost all levels of care and supporting those who need help with daily tasks or health needs. Residents can receive care from visiting nurses, podiatrists, dentists, therapists, and aides, and there's even non-medical support or companionship through home care when needed. The property welcomes independent seniors wanting a social community, but also helps those needing day care, short stays, or long-term nursing and rehab services. There are amenities for private parties, devotional services held offsite, private and shared rooms, and bathrooms with safety railings and windows for light. Pets are allowed, and the team keeps the grounds and buildings clean, bright, and pleasant, working together to help everyone feel at home.
