    Compassionate care but watch communication

I placed my dad here and overall I'm grateful - the staff are professional, genuinely caring, and involved him in activities; the building is clean, bright and home-like with good therapy, medication management and hospice support. The care team made a difficult time meaningful and usually addressed concerns quickly. Be aware it's expensive and operations can be inconsistent: hard-to-reach nurses, front-desk bottlenecks, spotty housekeeping/food, and occasional safety/coordination lapses on memory care - I'd keep someone in assisted living as long as possible and tour memory care carefully. In sum: excellent, compassionate care but watch price and communication/staffing issues.

Sunrise of Springfield sits at 6541 Franconia Rd E in Springfield, Virginia, and it's a three-story care community verified with a valid license as of December 9, 2024. The facility provides a mix of assisted living, memory care, nursing home, independent living, and short-term care options. There are 79 beds and a choice of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments with features like kitchens, safety and handicap additions, washer and dryer access, sprinkler systems, cable TV, and regular housekeeping. Meals are served daily by in-house chefs using seasonal menus with an eye on dietary needs, and residents don't have to worry about preparing their own food. They'll find outdoor gardens and walking paths, a fitness center, and salon or barbershop right on site. Game rooms, activity lounges, dining areas, Wi-Fi, guest parking, and bright indoor spaces help make things comfortable and pleasant.

Residents who need help get it from friendly, well-trained staff available 24/7 for emergencies and support. Personal care assistants help with bathing, dressing, toileting, walking, and medication reminders. The facility offers transportation, medication support, rehabilitation, wound care, podiatry, personal care, and occupational therapy, plus long-term care insurance options for those who need them. Guided by Principles of Service, care is tuned to what each resident needs and prefers, whether that's help with tasks or encouragement to stay independent.

People with memory issues receive support from specialized staff in secure areas. Sunrise of Springfield runs programs for Alzheimer's and dementia, including the Reminiscence Program and Terrace Club, to keep residents safe and engaged. The building allows pets, supports privacy, and remains focused on keeping the setting home-like and peaceful. Residents join social activities, arts and crafts, fitness and wellness sessions, and education programs-there's plenty to do, and participation is encouraged.

Sunrise of Springfield holds many National Quality Awards for their care. The team takes the time to know each resident personally, offering a mix of compassion and respect while aiming for an engaging environment that supports both body and mind. The resource directory links people to over 26,000 programs and services for things like caregiving, financial planning, legal needs, health, insurance, veterans' benefits, and local events, with a library full of guides, articles, and helpful tools. Residents can choose independent living if they want only minimal help, while short-term stays let people recover after illness or surgery, and skilled nursing and hospice options are available too. Bright, open spaces and recent renovations help keep the surroundings modern and comfortable. Altogether, Sunrise of Springfield offers a private, licensed community where elders find support, safety, and daily chances to connect with others while maintaining independence.

    About Sunrise Senior Living

Beginning with a single community in 1981, there are now more than 280 Sunrise Senior Living communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Each of our communities maintains the mission laid out by Sunrise founders Paul and Terry Klaassen more than 40 years ago: to champion quality of life for all seniors. The Klaassens’ vision to redefine senior care resulted in a resident-centered approach to care that focuses on the individuality of each resident and has set the standard in the assisted living industry. We are defined by our people. Our team of serving hearts are guided by our mission, Principles of Service and Values – all of which help encourage independence, preserve dignity and enable freedom of choice for each resident.
