    Warm staff, beautiful facility, pricey

I toured Sunrise of Edmonds and was impressed - the staff were warm, genuine and attentive, the facility is beautiful, very clean, and rooms and amenities are excellent. Activities are engaging and residents seemed happy; meals are plentiful and often good, though opinions on food quality varied. Care felt high-quality with strong staff relationships and attentive nursing, but I noticed slow response times, some admin turnover, inconsistent caregiver training, and they couldn't accommodate all complex medical needs. It's safe and comforting, but expensive - I'd recommend it if it fits your budget and specific care requirements.

    About Sunrise of Edmonds

Sunrise of Edmonds sits as a continuing care retirement community with assisted living, memory care, and independent living options, where staff stays a long time and takes care of residents as if they're neighbors, and there's a strong focus on safety, warmth, respect, and making individual care plans because everyone has different needs and preferences, so folks get specialized attention whether they need light help, full care, or memory support for Alzheimer's or dementia, and even those who need two-person or mechanical lift transfers find support here. The place has garden beds where residents can dig and plant, a secure patio with big trees and comfortable chairs, and long walking paths through well-kept landscaping, so people can go outside safely, including those with memory problems, since the enclosed courtyards, locked memory care buildings, wander-alert bracelets, and a computerized system all help protect residents who might walk off.

The building itself is wheelchair friendly, has a big wooden staircase in the grand foyer with art hanging on the walls, and offers a covered veranda for sitting outside, so people who want fresh air or a good view can get it without worrying about rain or sun. There are several activity rooms, where residents watch movies on large TVs, and community lounges with fireplaces for sitting together in the evenings. Folks can join gardening clubs, try Wii bowling, take art classes, or participate in live well and pet programs, which help with staying busy, and the caregivers make sure everyone gets a chance to join or get reminded when help's needed. For spiritual needs, religious services are held both on and off site, and there are devotionals, with both Protestant and Catholic services available, while therapy groups like reminiscence and sensory-based activities give residents with memory diseases ways to connect.

There's a small bistro café and big dining rooms with wooden floors, round tables, and snack bars where food is served, with options for special diets such as gluten-free, low or no sugar, and low or no salt, which means folks who need those diets get what they need, and family or friends visiting can get guest meals. Suite accommodations range from studio apartments to two-room suites, each with kitchens and bathrooms, so residents can have some privacy and independence, but if they need help, nurses and staff are around all day and night, with a doctor on call and monthly wellness checks on top of that. Housekeepers handle laundry and cleaning, beautician and barber shops are there for grooming, and the Jacuzzi and accessible showers make hygiene safe and easy. Free Wi-Fi and cable TV are available, as well as a library, arts and crafts center, piano, and an organ for those who enjoy music.

Sunrise of Edmonds offers respite care, hospice services, and can handle behavioral care for people who act out, as well as specialized memory care under names like Reminiscence Program and Terrace Club. The team can give insulin shots and handle blood sugar checks, provide mechanical lifts for moving people who can't walk alone, and organize transportation-either complimentary or through convenient bus lines that stop nearby-for errands, appointments, or outings. The facility is run by Sunrise Senior Living, Inc., has room for up to 76 residents, and encourages socializing with monthly events and community meals. The electronic Sunrise CareConnect system lets doctors and families stay connected on resident health remotely, and there's a family engagement app with photos and activity calendars. For safety, all staff get training for dementia care, and there's always a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or experienced caregiver on site, so residents and their families can know help's never far away.

    About Sunrise Senior Living

Beginning with a single community in 1981, there are now more than 280 Sunrise Senior Living communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Each of our communities maintains the mission laid out by Sunrise founders Paul and Terry Klaassen more than 40 years ago: to champion quality of life for all seniors. The Klaassens’ vision to redefine senior care resulted in a resident-centered approach to care that focuses on the individuality of each resident and has set the standard in the assisted living industry. We are defined by our people. Our team of serving hearts are guided by our mission, Principles of Service and Values – all of which help encourage independence, preserve dignity and enable freedom of choice for each resident.
