The Lakes at Gig Harbor sits along the shores of Lake Diane and welcomes residents aged 55 and older who want a peaceful, active lifestyle. The community was built in 1990 and has 140 sites, all designed for independent seniors who enjoy recreation, nature, and easy living. Staff members are helpful, joyful, and kind, giving the place a warm feeling every day. Folks can pick from five different floor plans, ranging from 1,350 to 2,000 square feet, and all homes have full utility rooms and garages that fit two, two and a half, or even three cars, plus homes come with lap siding and peaked roofs which look nice and hold up well through our seasons. The mobile homes and manufactured layouts offer plenty of room and some feature multisection layouts, but there's not any vacant land to build a new home at the moment.
Residents can choose assisted living for help with bathing, dressing, or taking medicine, or choose independent living if they want to manage on their own, and the community also offers memory care for seniors living with Alzheimer's or other memory problems, using spaces that help people not feel confused or wander off. There's a clubhouse that's a good size-2,000 square feet-where you'll see book clubs, Bible studies, parties, and meetings, and outside there are scenic waterfront spots for strolling, two lakes, 25 acres of greenbelt and walking paths, an outdoor theater for summer plays, and a swimming pool for relaxing or getting a little exercise.
Meals are cooked by chefs who focus on good ingredients and taste, and there's a spirit of community through group activities that keep residents engaged physically, mentally, and emotionally, plus organized events like private parties and even golf tournaments for those who enjoy a friendly game. The community is gated for safety and offers off-street parking, landscaped grounds, and WiFi marked as "Other" for folks who need it, and there's on-site help through Jack Oakes in sales and John Heikkinan, the community manager.
You're close to all sorts of useful things too, like golf, boating, fishing, shopping, and plenty of stores such as Costco, Home Depot, Target, and Albertson's just a few miles away, with Uptown and downtown Gig Harbor nearby for dining, bistro visits, and browsing shops. There's a fire station close by and hospitals like St. Anthony's and clinics for any medical needs. Folks choosing The Lakes at Gig Harbor get a low maintenance home, long-term lot leases with the chance to pay no sales tax on resale homes, and a quiet setting where people look out for each other, enjoy the outdoors, and join in activities that really build a sense of belonging.
