    Pristine compassionate secure family home

I couldn't be happier with Golden Cottage - a pristine, purpose-built AFH that immediately felt like a warm, family home. The staff, led by nurse Laura and onsite owners, are compassionate, highly skilled, and responsive; they provided individualized, above-and-beyond care, coordinated medical and hospice needs, and even accommodated special diets. Rooms and common areas are spotless and spacious with a secure outdoor patio, home-cooked meals, engaging activities, and strict COVID precautions. I felt my loved one was safe, valued, and truly part of the family - I highly recommend this as a perfect forever home.

    About Golden Cottage AFH

Golden Cottage AFH sits in a quiet Kirkland, WA neighborhood, where the staff takes care of seniors in a small, home-like setting with room for only six residents at a time, so people tend to know each other pretty well, and everyone gets personal attention throughout the day and night because registered nurses live on site or are always on call, whether it's the middle of the night or early morning, and caregivers help with things like bathing, dressing, and even getting to their health appointments or remembering their medicine. The house itself is easy to move around in if someone uses a wheelchair or walker, with private bathrooms, kitchens or kitchenettes, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and rooms cleaned regularly, plus safety features like emergency call buttons and a sprinkler system in case of an emergency. There are always activities, both inside and out, from stretching classes and musical performances to bingo, arts and crafts, movie nights, and tea times, and sometimes they take trips to parks or restaurants nearby because the home is close to public transportation-which means it's easy to stay social and active, and those who want quiet can spend time in the garden or just relax in the outdoor common areas. Residents can bring pets if they want, but there are some restrictions, and family or friends can visit every day from 9:00am to 8:00pm.

For meals, the staff serves restaurant-style food, including vegetarian, low-salt, kosher, or even special diets if needed, and the meals are prepared with good ingredients so everyone gets what they need to feel strong and well fed. There's a licensed nurse always nearby for things like wound care, help with medication, glucose checks, or things like transfers and catheter care, and the facility offers occupational, physical, and speech therapies with nurses and assistants designed to help residents keep as much independence as possible and live with dignity. Memory care's available for people with Alzheimer's or dementia in an environment that's put together to reduce confusion, and there's a special focus on safety for those who might wander or need more structure. The home can also support people with developmental disabilities or mental health needs and even offers hospice care at the end of life.

Golden Cottage AFH gives the option for private or common rooms, and staff members treat the residents like family, trying to bring a sense of well-being, companionship, and dignity to everyone, and keeping careful watch so residents stay safe, clean, and comfortable. There's always someone around to help with grooming, bathing, or just lending a hand with daily living, and for a small group, it manages a full range of activities and outing options-reading, stories, puzzles, games, and many kinds of celebrations-all while being close to hospitals and within walking distance of parks and shopping. Tours are available by request so people can meet the staff and see how things are set up and how the meals and activities work, and most feedback talks about the cleanliness, the friendly staff, and the well-managed and warm feeling in the place. This home makes living simple and straightforward, aiming for residents to feel safe and cared for while still holding on to as much independence as they can.
