    Small woodsy home, compassionate caregiving

I chose this small, woodsy facility for my loved one and it truly felt like a second home - clean, well-kept, and welcoming. The administrator and caregiving staff are compassionate, competent, and go above and beyond; residents are friendly too, creating a warm, family-oriented community with plenty of activities. I felt reassured and highly recommend it for attentive, top-notch care and real peace of mind.

About Heritage House Morton Assisted Living and Memory Care

Heritage House Morton Assisted Living and Memory Care sits at the end of a quiet street right along the Tilton River, surrounded by tall trees and mountain views, so you get the peace and natural beauty with no city noise, and it really feels like a small, friendly community where people know each other. The place has an active license checked every month by Washington's licensing authority, and you'll find staff here around the clock, including nurses, all trained and ready to help with what folks need, whether that's medication, bathing, getting dressed, or moving around, and the care plans get updated often to match what each person wants or needs. For memory care, there are four semi-private apartments that fit eight residents, and they've got a secured area, walking paths, and a gazebo, so people with Alzheimer's or dementia can enjoy the garden without worries about wandering, and the programs focus on cognitive exercises and emotional support, so families feel a bit more at ease.

There are 35 assisted living apartments, and all of them have emergency call buttons, their own bathrooms, and they're wired for cable and phone, which helps with both comfort and safety, because, when something happens, staff can get there quick. The dining room's bright with lots of windows, and they serve three dietician-approved meals a day with a salad bar at lunch and dinner, plus snacks are always nearby if someone's hungry outside of meal times. You'll see a living room with a fireplace, other cozy lounges, a juice bar in the recreation room, and plenty of spots for people to sit together or just relax alone, and outside, there are nice walking paths, a landscaped courtyard with a fountain, and areas where folks can just breathe in the fresh air or watch the river flow.

They help with lots of health needs, including insulin shots and blood sugar checks for diabetes, bowel or bladder incontinence, and non-ambulatory care with one-person assist transfers. If someone needs hospice or short-term respite care, those services are here, and they welcome veterans and those paying with Social Security, private pay, or insurance, but there's a community fee and different prices depending on care level, from light help to heavier care, since many residents need a fair bit of help each day. The memory care area is fully secured to protect people prone to wandering, and residents who may be at risk for elopement or may act out physically are cared for with plans in place to keep everyone safe.

Activities happen both onsite and off, with casino drives, buffets, devotional services, and outings, and on the practical side, there's an onsite beautician, a barber salon, mailboxes, wheelchair-accessible showers and tubs, a non-pay phone, and help with transportation to appointments or outings, plus the community's close to bus lines and offers free resident parking. The safety systems include fire sprinklers, smoke detectors, electronic security, and emergency call devices in every apartment and common area, which means everyone's got some peace of mind. Physical and occupational therapists visit, and staff work closely with residents to keep everyone as independent and socially active as possible. There's always a focus on helping people keep their independence, stay active, and enjoy day-to-day life among friends and kind staff, in a place that truly is peaceful and welcoming, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Pacific Northwest.
