    About Parkview Group Home

Parkview Group Home is a longstanding and cherished fixture of the Capitol Hill community in Seattle, overlooking the scenic Volunteer Park. Established in 1967, Parkview Group Home began its mission by providing residential support services to children with developmental disabilities. As its first group of clients grew older, the organization recognized the importance of continuity in care and shifted its focus in 1995 from serving children to exclusively supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs). This thoughtful transition allowed Parkview Group Home to continue supporting the very individuals who had grown up within its nurturing environment, ensuring they could confidently transition into adulthood with familiar support and community.

Today, Parkview Group Home is home to six adults with IDDs, most of whom have lived together and fostered deep connections since childhood. The warm, familial atmosphere at the home is enriched by the unique personalities and interests of each resident. While the group shares a strong bond and enjoys time together, every individual is encouraged and empowered to maintain their own friendships, hobbies, and lifestyles, reflecting Parkview’s commitment to honoring personal choice and individuality.

Residents of Parkview Group Home benefit from the unwavering dedication of Direct Support Professionals who provide around-the-clock care. These staff members cultivate a supportive and empowering environment where adults with IDDs are encouraged to live, learn, and grow according to their goals and preferences. By balancing safety with autonomy, Parkview Group Home offers its residents genuine opportunities to participate in their community, form meaningful relationships, and pursue fulfilling lives.

As part of its evolving mission to empower adults with IDDs, Parkview Group Home has become affiliated with a Supported Living Services (SLS) contract, expanding its personalized support approach. Parkview’s broader SLS program serves twelve clients throughout several cities, employing a team of approximately fifty skilled staff. The ethos that guides Parkview Group Home is a deep belief in the fundamental rights of people with disabilities to live free from discrimination, to be fully acknowledged for their valuable contributions, and to enjoy rich, self-directed lives.

The continuity and consistency within Parkview Group Home set it apart, as many long-term residents have shared years, even decades, together under its supportive roof. This shared history and mutual understanding help cultivate a unique sense of belonging, where every resident’s dignity, agency, and happiness are prioritized—making Parkview Group Home a remarkable place to call home.
