Shoreline Health & Rehabilitation Center, located on the south end of the Briarcrest neighborhood in Shoreline, Washington, has 114 licensed beds and serves an average of 83 residents every day, offering many care types like short-term rehab, long-term nursing care, and specialized help for Alzheimer's patients, and it's run by Ensign Services, Inc., a for-profit company affiliated with The Ensign Group. The facility went through a multi-million dollar remodel and now has a modern Short-Term Rehab Unit with 40 private rooms featuring electric beds, free WiFi, private phone lines, and swing-arm entertainment centers, while the physical therapy gym is spacious and filled with updated equipment, and therapists use playful exercises like animal walks and obstacle courses to help people recover. The staff provides around 3.98 nurse hours per resident each day, which is less than the state average of 4.4, and nurse turnover is lower than most Washington facilities, with about 20.5% leaving each year, but even with a team of skilled professionals offering 24-hour care and in-house physicians, recent inspection reports show 31 deficiencies, including problems with infection control, pharmacy services, and resident rights regarding safe, homelike surroundings. People of all ages use the skilled nursing services, occupational and physical therapy, speech therapy, and the facility also handles rehab after joint replacement, surgery, strokes, and wounds; there's also respiratory care, palliative care, and wound care, and neurologists are available for consultations. The grounds are landscaped and rooms come as studios, companions, or private options, with three dining rooms, a beauty shop, housekeeping, laundry, movies, a patio, transportation, and a busy activity calendar with social events, worship, and games. Virtual therapy's an option too, with in-home physical and occupational therapy offered through telemedicine, and therapists assist caregivers with practical advice for emotional and sensory needs at home or in classrooms. Meals are nutritious, menus are satisfying, and management-led by Whitney Hunter since June 2021-works to keep each care plan personal and detailed, covering everything from daily exercises to progress monitoring, and the facility accepts Medicare and Medicaid, is properly licensed by the state, and is open twenty-four hours every day, striving to keep a comfortable, safe, and nurturing environment, even as they address shortcomings highlighted in inspection reports.

Compassionate care, food needs improvement
I trusted Shoreline with my loved one and was impressed - nursing, aides and therapy (PT/OT) were exceptional, compassionate, highly skilled, and genuinely invested in recovery. The facility is clean, warm and welcoming, with engaging activities and administrators and DON who are hands-on and supportive. Major drawback: the kitchen/food quality was poor at times (old/leftover items reported), and I encountered a few management/staff attitude issues. Overall I'd highly recommend Shoreline for short-term rehab and skilled nursing care, though I'd be cautious about long-term dining and management concerns.
