    About Mooring Programs

Mooring Programs in Appleton, Wisconsin, helps men and women ages 18 to 64 who want treatment for drug or alcohol addiction, and they welcome folks on opioid or methadone medication, which isn't always the case at other places, and they've got separate programs for men and women with gender-specific options at Mooring House for men and Casa Clare for women. These homes give you a safe, substance-free place to recover, and they keep things feeling home-like with single or two-bed rooms, comfortable lounges, outdoor fire pits, game rooms for ping-pong and pool, and all meals and snacks provided right there, plus laundry and nearby public transport. Staff are around 24/7 in both houses, and you'll find that the place is private, non-profit, and licensed under state law, so everything's run by the book, and they take Medicaid, commercial insurance, private pay, and even some county or tribal funding, making it easier on the wallet for some families. Their programs cover inpatient residential treatment, outpatient care, partial hospitalization, and even sober living and transitional housing if you need a step-down before heading back to your life. Folks usually stay between 31 and 60 days, and the daily cost ranges from about $35 to $135, depending on the service you need, with beds available for new residents.

Treatment here is pretty thorough, offering everything from individual counseling to group and family therapy, with a whole mix of approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma counseling, relapse prevention, and the 12-Step model, plus a focus on skills like setting boundaries, managing anger, and healthy communication. You get a dedicated addictions counselor, which helps when making goals and working through tough spots, and there are regular therapy sessions every day, seven days a week. If a person has both mental health and substance use problems (known as dual diagnosis), they're equipped to help with that too. Ancillary services are included, like case management and housing help, mentoring or peer support, mental health counseling, and self-help groups, plus employment counseling or job training and financial planning, which can really help for folks starting fresh. Drug and alcohol urine screening, TB testing, medication monitoring, and ongoing aftercare are all part of the package to help maintain sobriety after you leave.

There's a big focus on education, too, so you'll see groups on topics like coping skills, family issues, the science of addiction, and even information about behavioral addictions like gambling or internet use. Recreational therapy is offered as well, and that means things like games, time spent in nature, and activities that help build confidence and positive connections with others. They'll help get you set up for life outside with things like discharge planning, outcome follow-up, and support in finding work or keeping a job. Transportation for treatment-related needs is covered, and smoking is allowed in certain areas.

Everything is person-centered, meaning your treatment plan is based on your unique needs instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, and the higher staff-to-client ratio along with private rooms gives you a bit more comfort during a difficult time. It's all designed to help people and their families not just stop using, but build the skills and support network for lasting recovery in a real, down-to-earth way.
