Villa Hope is dedicated to providing adults facing severe and persistent mental illness, developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, chemical dependencies, and related challenges with a safe and healthy environment where hope and independence can flourish. Founded in 1970, Villa Hope began as a modest initiative aimed at supporting newly released prisoners and has since grown into a leading provider of individualized support services. Over the decades, their mission has evolved to encompass a wide range of populations with complex needs, always guided by the belief that a healthy support system, strong resources, and hope are fundamental in helping individuals make healthy lifestyle choices and achieve greater independence.
Central to the philosophy at Villa Hope is a deep respect for each individual’s dignity and uniqueness. The care provided is compassionate, meeting people where they are in life with understanding, acceptance, and empathy. Staff members are committed to fostering an atmosphere where every person is offered choices, encouraged to take an active role in their care, and supported in pursuing goals that reflect their personal visions for a better quality of life. At Villa Hope, service plans are carefully developed and adjusted over time to meet the changing needs of each resident, ensuring truly individualized care.
Villa Hope’s journey is marked by significant milestones. In the 1980s, a 15-bed group home known as a Community Based Residential Facility was constructed, laying the groundwork for expanded programming and outreach. The Supported Apartment Program followed in 1993, providing residential homes tailored to those striving for more independent living with adequate support. In 1994, Villa Hope developed a Community Support Program in Green Bay, implementing a community-based approach that delivers mental health services directly to consumers in their homes and everyday environments. Recognizing the need for intensified support, Villa Hope introduced the Special Apartment Program in 2008, offering 24/7, intensive, one-on-one assistance to adults who require this level of care.
Throughout its history, Villa Hope’s values have remained clear and unwavering. At the heart of the organization are the principles of treating all people with dignity, respect, and acceptance, recognizing the importance of compassion, and embracing the possibilities that hope brings. Each member of the dedicated team at Villa Hope is proud to contribute uniquely to an environment where individuals are empowered to make meaningful choices, develop life skills, and pursue greater independence. For everyone involved—residents, families, and staff—Villa Hope stands as a place where hope truly lives.
