    Pleasant staff; owner undermines trust

I found the facility pleasant and the people warm - the staff, especially Tootie, was outstanding. Residents seemed happy, but the owner acted unprofessionally, so I don't trust the overall care quality.

    About Cady Memorial Home

Cady Memorial Home sits at 380 Maple St in Birnamwood, Wisconsin, about 14.5 miles outside Antigo, and it's been family-owned and run for 20 years, which means it's got a bit of that home-like feel people remember, you know, with well-kept living quarters and cozy shared spaces, and the place only has 17 beds so things never feel too crowded or too busy like some of the big ones. The grounds are pretty, with gardens, walking paths, and a wooded yard where folks can get fresh air or do some outdoor activities, and indoors you'll find furnished rooms or the option to bring your own things, with studio layouts for privacy. The community focuses on both assisted living and Alzheimer's care, offering support for people who need help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, meals, and medications, with staff available any hour, day or night, and a nurse who helps keep care plans on track and works with doctors and nearby hospitals like Aspirus Langlade Hospital, so residents don't have to worry if something goes wrong. Cady Memorial Home offers meals, including home-cooked options and choices for special diets, and the dining room is where everyone gathers, which is nice for those who enjoy company at mealtime. They put on a full slate of activities, entertainment, and social programs-like movie nights, supervised activities, scheduled events, and even a monthly visit from the local minister-so people have chances to make friends and stay busy. There are options for dementia care too, so people with mild memory issues get proper support, and hospice care is also available for those who need it, all done calmly and respectfully. The place features laundry and housekeeping, an emergency alert system, 24-hour supervision, and regular coordination with healthcare professionals. It's close to pharmacies, stores, bakeries, coffee shops, and restaurants, so residents or their loved ones can step out when they need something or just want a treat, and there's transportation for those who don't want to walk or drive. While the community rating on web reviews sits at 4.4 out of 10, people who want a medium-sized senior home in a quiet village close to practical things-like gas stations, banks, or shopping-might still consider it, especially if they value a slower pace and a personal touch, since being independent with just the right amount of support is the main goal here. The place offers a range of payment options and floor plans, more senior living choices if needed, and a way of life that's more relaxed, sometimes with friendships forming over home-cooked meals or in the garden, which is probably what a lot of folks are looking for as the years roll on.
