Calebria House sits quietly in Burlington, WI, and takes on a residential care home style, offering assisted living, memory care, respite stays, and support for daily living so folks can feel safe and comfortable, and the whole building keeps things to a single story so there's no need for stairs or elevators, and you'll find both private and shared rooms with their own bathrooms, living spaces, and activity areas, so residents can bring along their own favorite things from home to make each place feel a bit more like their own. The staff helps folks with things like bathing, dressing, medication, and even moving around if needed, plus they'll create special plans for each person's care, including handling incontinence, diabetes, and high-acuity needs, with an option for hospice when the time comes, and the caregivers and staff all speak English, which can make things easier for daily communication. Every day, the kitchen serves three meals that meet nutritional needs (including special options for allergies, diabetes, and vegetarians), snacks are always available, and the dining room welcomes everyone, plus if someone needs help eating or has a special diet, there's a system in place to accommodate that without fuss. The community puts together a full schedule of activities like games, movie nights, Bible studies, outings into the city, visits to local cafes or restaurants, devotional services on and off-site, and personalized exercise programs, so there's usually something going on to get folks moving or socializing, and people enjoy gathering in both indoor and outdoor common areas, including paths and gardens for walks and fresh air, or the activity center for games and crafts. Housekeeping and laundry get handled every week, and there's an onsite beautician if anyone wants a haircut or a bit of grooming, plus each resident has free access to cable TV in their room. Transportation is available, both complimentary for city trips or at a cost for personal appointments, and parking's available for visiting family or residents who still drive. Security and an emergency alert system help give peace of mind, and families looking for short-term or respite care can arrange a stay too, which means Calebria House can provide as much or as little support as each resident needs, all within a setting that tries to keep things feeling home-like and friendly, rather than overwhelming, giving folks a quiet place where they can build connections with caregivers and neighbors at their own pace.
Untrained, unkind staff; forced move
I trusted their advertised memory-care but the staff were poorly trained and showed no compassion. They isolated residents at meals and provided inadequate dementia care - after repeated problems I filed a regulatory complaint and was forced to move my loved one to another facility. I do not recommend.
