    About Blandine House

Blandine House has played a vital role in transforming lives for over 45 years. Over time, it has evolved into a respected long-term residential treatment center designed to guide men with substance use issues through meaningful recovery. The environment at Blandine House is intentionally supportive, offering more than just a place to stay; it provides a community where adult male residents are surrounded by licensed substance abuse counselors, resident house managers, and an executive director dedicated to their success. In addition to the formal staff, the extended Blandine Family—including former residents and members of the 12-step community—actively supports current residents with both informal and formal encouragement.

The program at Blandine House is structured as a 90-day residential treatment experience tailored specifically to adult men dealing with alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) challenges. Residents receive individualized attention through one-on-one counseling sessions aimed at uncovering the root causes of substance use, while collaboratively developing goals and monitoring progress along the way. Counselors focus on addressing each resident’s unique concerns, fostering self-awareness, and supporting personal growth. Group therapy sessions further enhance this process, creating a space where men can learn from and support one another under professional guidance, building both recovery and lasting friendships.

A typical stay at Blandine House is enriched by activities that make the recovery process both meaningful and enjoyable. Residents participate in fun and engaging pursuits, such as biking, bowling, camping, and other recreational activities, often scheduled for Friday afternoons. This focus on positive experiences helps create an environment where enjoying sobriety is seen as a fundamental aspect of maintaining long-term health and satisfaction in recovery.

For those who have completed the core treatment program, Blandine House offers an aftercare group on Wednesday evenings. This support group provides an important next step, helping men continue to work on the ongoing challenges of recovery and develop everyday living skills necessary for long-term success. Support does not end there; Integrity House, a sober living residence operated under the Blandine House umbrella, is available to those transitioning back into daily life. Residents at Integrity House can stay for up to one year after completing the main program and are expected to remain alcohol- and drug-free while fulfilling personal responsibilities such as laundry, cooking, and cleaning. Employment or volunteer commitment is required, as well as participation in three weekly meetings and continued engagement with aftercare.

Respect and dignity are at the heart of the Blandine House approach. Every resident is treated as a valuable individual, each with his own strengths and challenges. Staff and community members believe in helping one another and acknowledge that while they cannot “cure” residents, they are deeply committed to providing the essential tools, support, and encouragement for those ready to embrace a life of sobriety. The organization’s mission is rooted in compassion and a genuine desire to help men rebuild their lives in a positive, sustainable way.

Throughout the Blandine House program, the focus remains on building a sense of belonging, teaching life skills, and fostering self-respect. The facility’s atmosphere is intentionally structured yet deeply empathetic, recognizing that every man’s journey is unique. Guided by these values, Blandine House continues its legacy as a nurturing place where recovery is possible and where hope, support, and transformation are everyday realities.
