    Pleasant facility, hidden fees, staffing

I toured this older but pleasant facility; managers were caring and encouraged my mom's independence. She's making friends and seems to enjoy the activity area (I didn't see activities during my visit) and staff are attentive. Red flags: I was charged for a TB test without disclosure and staff say it's a horrible place to work. It suits my mom, but because of hidden fees and staffing concerns I can't recommend it.

    About Lincoln House

Lincoln House stands as a community-based residential facility where folks can get help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and taking medicine, and there's always staff available around the clock if anything comes up, and while the building holds 16 units, it does offer programs like assisted living, memory care, and board and care home options right inside the same place, which is helpful for seniors who need various levels of support. Residents get three home-cooked meals every day, served in a dining room, with special diets for allergies or diabetes taken care of, and the cleaning, laundry services, and move-in help make things a bit less hard when moving in. The staff can manage medication, help set up doctor or therapy appointments, and provide daily health checks, and there's support for folks with dementia, mild cognitive problems, and those who need more hands-on help, plus there are waiver programs for hospice or dementia care.

Lincoln House has a good list of things to do so people aren't just sitting alone-the place holds movie nights, creative arts classes, shopping trips, and gardening, plus a dining room where everyone can share meals and chat. There's a telephone in each room so people can reach out if they need family or friends, and for outside trips or appointments, transportation is included. Residents use walking paths, spend time in the garden, or join in on community activities, and while there's a set-up for group activities, the facility has common spaces and even a salon/barber shop for haircuts right on site. There's move-in coordination, money management help, and family outreach available, with devotional and offsite activities worked into the schedule for those who want them.

The staff keeps things friendly and helpful, making sure that anyone needing wheelchair or non-ambulatory care gets the right support, along with mobility and transfer assistance for those who can't move as easily, although the building itself isn't fully accessible for wheelchairs. There's an emergency alert system in each room for peace of mind, and all rooms come furnished, so there's less to bring along. While there's no extra fluff, Lincoln House does keep up with medical support, individualized health plans, diabetic and incontinence care, and close care for folks with dementia, aiming to make life easier and give each person a safe and comfortable place to be, with lots of chances to stay active and social.
