Traditions of Frederic is a small, quiet community in a small town, and it keeps things simple with an old-fashioned, homey feel you don't see everywhere, with clean surroundings, comfortable furniture, and good homemade meals folks say are both tasty and nutritious, and you've got staff who stay awake all night to help out, so you don't have to worry about being left alone. There are 15 resident beds, and it's set up as a Community Based Residential Facility with license #0013890, and you'll find they've got independent living for active seniors, assisted living for those who need some daily help, and specialized memory care set up in a separate building for people facing Alzheimer's or dementia, where the doors stay locked, there's a secured yard, alarms on the exits, and a computerized system that lets staff know right away if someone tries to wander-so people who might get lost are kept safe, and they even use removal bracelets that ring if someone heads out. Rent, utilities, maintenance, some meals, and housekeeping are included in a base fee that depends on room size and care level, and there's an extra community fee called a reservation deposit, sometimes refunded if health problems keep someone from moving in, but the main thing is the cost goes up if residents need more help-so people who need a lot more help with bathing, eating, or moving around pay more, and the staff can do one-person, two-person, and even mechanical lift transfers for folks who can't walk, and they offer help with medication, reminders, and cueing, all the way up to heavy care. There's support for mild cognitive impairment, dementia, diabetes care-including blood sugar checks and insulin shots-care for people who can't walk, and even a hospice waiver, so you know there's a wide range of things they can handle. Residents can expect three planned meals a day, snacks, diabetic diet options, meals for allergies, all-day dining, and the kitchen will work with special requests. They offer housekeeping, laundry, dry cleaning, telephone service, and a furnished place to live, so people don't need to worry about buying fancy furniture. The setting includes walking paths, a small garden, indoor common areas, and regular onsite activities like movie nights plus devotional services offsite and social clubs. Resident parking and complimentary transportation help folks get around, either to the clinic or out into town, and everything's wheelchair accessible, so people with mobility issues aren't limited in where they go inside. The staff takes care of people prone to wandering, behavioral challenges, or incontinence, and makes sure everyone stays safe and well looked after, so families can have some peace of mind. There's training for all staff in Alzheimer's and dementia care, with care plans made for each person's needs, and help is given kindly. Traditions of Frederic is part of the Wisconsin Assisted Living Association, is connected to other member communities called Traditions of Frederic I and II, and links to programs like the Frederic Clinic, Suite Living SENIOR MEMORY Care, St Croix Hospice, and Frederic Nutrition Program, so residents and families have access to a range of local support. The facility keeps a simple, slow pace and respects traditions, making sure residents feel comfortable and included in daily life.
Caring staff, clean home, concerns
My spouse is getting great care and my dad seems content - the staff are caring and the new House Manager is doing a great job. It's a small, very clean, homey place with old-style furnishings, excellent homemade food, ample activity spaces, and a convenient downtown location in a quaint walkable town. The building is a remodeled old hospital that needs updates. I have concerns about nursing staff misconduct, unprofessional behavior, and privacy issues, so I recommend them with reservations.
