    About Our Place I

Our Place I is a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, dedicated to serving adults with mental or emotional disorders who, while ambulatory, require some assistance to live as independently as possible. This warm and welcoming home accommodates up to eighteen residents, all of whom are over the age of eighteen and are physically and mentally capable of responding independently in emergency situations. The environment is structured to foster a sense of security, acceptance, and opportunity for personal growth, with a focus on encouraging each adult’s self-reliance and stability.

The primary mission at Our Place I is to support residents in developing independent living skills, reducing or managing psychiatric symptoms, and enhancing their overall quality of life. The staff draws from diverse backgrounds including certified nursing assistants, mental health technicians, social workers, and activities personnel, all of whom bring an average of seven years of experience within similar care settings. Together, they collaborate closely with each resident, working from individualized plans that are carefully tailored to address each person’s goals and unique circumstances. The approach is person-centered, emphasizing respect, patience, and compassion as individuals are guided through daily routines and incremental progress.

Residents at Our Place I typically arrive through referrals, often associated with county case management and protective placement orders. Prior to admission, social workers from the home conduct thorough assessments to determine whether prospective residents will benefit from living in this supportive community. Once admitted, if no immediate placements are available, candidates who are appropriate for the program may be placed on a waiting list. Every resident is involved in the creation and ongoing revision of their personal goals and care plans, and staff provide essential support in various areas such as personal care, social skills, money management, and community engagement.

Integrating into the wider community is a key aspect of life at Our Place I. Residents receive help navigating public transportation and learning important skills for work and education. Social and recreational activities are organized to facilitate meaningful community integration and socialization. In addition, staff regularly provide information about relevant community resources, programs, and services that may be of benefit to residents, empowering them to explore new interests and increase their independence outside of the facility.

Above all, Our Place I strives to create a supportive and affirming atmosphere where each adult can experience dignity, respect, and the opportunity for personal growth at their own pace. The commitment of the highly trained and compassionate staff to each resident’s well-being and development is evident in every aspect of daily life within the home.
